The Wick VapoRub cold ointment is a remedy for relieving cold symptoms in the respiratory tract.It helps with symptoms such as a runny nose, hoarseness, cough and mucus.No prescription is required for this product.

Areas of application

The ointment is used to support the treatment of colds in the respiratory tract.It can be used for colds, coughs, mucous bronchi, hoarseness and inflammation of the throat (pharyngitis).

Active ingredients and composition

The ointment contains the following active ingredients: levomenthol, camphor, purified turpentine oil and eucalyptus oil.It also contains excipients such as cedarwood oil, thymol and white petroleum jelly.

Mode of action

The ingredients of the ointment stimulate blood circulation, loosen expectorants and relieve coughs.Eucalyptus oil stimulates the fine hairs of the upper respiratory tract to move faster, which makes stuck mucus easier to remove and coughs up easier.It also reduces coughing spasms.

Application and dosage

The ointment can be used for rubbing or inhalation.It is rubbed onto the chest, back and neck.Children aged 2-5 years receive half a teaspoon to a teaspoon 2-3 times a day, children aged 6-12 years receive one to two teaspoons 2-4 times a day and adults and children over 12 years receive two to three teaspoons 2-4 times a day.After rubbing, hands should be cleaned thoroughly to avoid contact with eyes, nose and mouth.

For inhalation, 1-2 teaspoons of the ointment are placed in a container with a large surface area and hot water is poured over it.The vapors should be inhaled for 10-15 minutes.This application is only suitable for adults and children aged 6 and over.
