Instructions for use for WICK VapoRub cold ointment, 25 g
Areas of application
Wick VapoRub cold ointment is used to relieve respiratory cold symptoms. It helps with coughs, colds, hoarseness and mucus. The ointment dissolves stubborn mucus and clears the stuffy nose within a few minutes.Using the cold ointment is particularly recommended before going to bed, as the essential oils work for up to 8 hours and ensure a quiet and restful night. The product is approved for children aged 2 and over and can be used both as a rub and as an inhalant. No prescription is required for this product.
Active ingredients and ingredients
Wick VapoRub cold ointment contains the active ingredients menthol, camphor, turpentine oil and eucalyptus oil. These active ingredients are effective against cold symptoms. The ointment also contains nutmeg oil, thymol, petroleum jelly, white petroleum jelly and cedarwood oil as excipients.
Application
The cold ointment should be massaged into the skin of the chest and back area 3-4 times a day.The active ingredients camphor and menthol clear the respiratory tract with their essential oils. The fumes are particularly easy to inhale when wearing loose clothing.Children aged 6 and over can have the ointment applied thinly to the neck before going to bed.Rubbing on the neck and facial area is not recommended for children under 6 years of age. This medicine is also ideal for use as inhalation. To do this, 1-2 teaspoons are dissolved in 500 ml of hot, but not boiling, water. The vapors can then be inhaled for 10-15 minutes.Children should not be left unattended as there is a risk of scalding.Inhalation is suitable for children aged 7 and over.
Contraindications
Use should be avoided in children under 2 years of age.You should also avoid using the cold ointment if you are hypersensitive to any of the ingredients. The medicine must not be used in the case of previously damaged or inflamed skin or open wounds at the application site, in asthma or other respiratory diseases with pronounced hypersensitivity of the airways, and in children under 2 years of age.The product must not be used as inhalation for acute pneumonia or in children under 6 years of age.
Dosage
Wick VapoRub cold ointment can be used in two ways: for application to the chest and back (from 2 years) and for inhalation (from 6 years). When applying the ointment is massaged onto the chest and back. For children aged 6 and over, the ointment can also be gently applied to the neck before going to bed.During use, loose clothing should be worn to make it easier to inhale the fumes. The recommended number of 3 to 4 applications per day should not be exceeded. To inhale, place hot, but not boiling, water in a bowl suitable for inhalation, dissolve 2 teaspoons of VapoRub in it and inhale the vapors.
Intake
The ointment should only be used externally or for inhalation. It must not be used on previously damaged or inflamed skin or open wounds at the application site. The ointment should not be swallowed and should not be used in the nose or mouth. For adults and children aged 6 and over, the ointment can be applied to the chest, neck and back and gently massaged for 3-5 minutes. For children aged 2-5 years, the ointment should only be applied to the chest and back, not to the nose and face.Wearing loose clothing makes it easier to inhale the fumes. It is particularly recommended to be used before going to bed, as the medicine releases the essential oils over several hours. For inhalation, place 1-2 teaspoons of the ointment in a bowl or other container with a large surface area.Heat 1/2 liter of water (never in the microwave) and add it to the container until it is very hot, but not boiling. The vapors can be inhaled for 10-15 minutes.Do not leave children unattended during inhalation.
