General information about Fenistil dragees

Fenistil dragees are an anti-allergic drug used to treat allergic diseases and itching.The active ingredient dimetindene maleate belongs to the group of antihistamines and helps to relieve the symptoms of allergies such as rash, itching, hay fever or other forms of allergic rhinitis.

Areas of application

Fenistil dragees are used for the symptomatic relief of histamine-related itching, chickenpox-associated itching in small children, allergic rhinitis in patients over 6 years of age and hives (urticaria).The active ingredient, dimetindene maleate, blocks the effects of histamine, a substance that the body releases during an allergic reaction.This relieves itching, irritation, swelling and symptoms of allergic rhinitis such as runny nose, sneezing, itchy nose and itchy, watery eyes.

Ingredients

1 coated tablet of Fenistil Dragees contains 1 mg of dimetindene maleate as the active ingredient.The other ingredients are lactose monohydrate, sucrose, talc, microcrystalline cellulose, macrogol 35,000, glucose syrup, titanium dioxide, magnesium stearate, povidone 29,000, colloidal silicon dioxide, montan glycol wax and gelatin.The product contains glucose, sucrose (sugar) and lactose.

Dosage and application

The usual dose for adults and adolescents aged 12 and over is 1-2 coated tablets 3 times a day.For patients prone to drowsiness, it is recommended to take 2 tablets at bedtime and 1 tablet in the morning.Children aged 3 to 11 should take a maximum of 1 coated tablet 3 times a day.Older people (65 years and over) can take the usual adult dose.The coated tablets should be taken with sufficient liquid.Do not take Fenistil dragees for longer than 14 days without consulting your doctor.Do not exceed the recommended dose.

Storage

Keep Fenistil dragees out of the reach of children.Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the carton and blister.This medicine does not require any special storage conditions.No prescription is required for this product.

Important notes

Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure whether Fenistil tablets are suitable for you.Particular caution is required in patients with glaucoma or congenital or acquired bladder neck stenosis (prostate hypertrophy).Even when used as intended, this medicine can change your ability to react to such an extent that the ability to actively participate in road traffic or operate machines is impaired.This applies to an even greater extent when combined with alcohol.

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, Fenistil dragees should only be used after consulting your doctor.Before taking/using any medicines, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
