What is sage tea and what is it used for?

Sage tea is made from the leaves of the sage plant and is used for various ailments.Internally it can help with digestive problems such as mild cramps in the gastrointestinal area, feeling of fullness and flatulence.It can also be used for increased sweat secretion.It is used externally for inflammation of the mouth and throat mucosa by gargling or rinsing with it.

How to use sage tea?

For internal use, drink a cup of tea infusion 3-4 times a day.To do this, pour boiling water (approx. 150 ml) over 1 teaspoon (1.5 g) of sage leaves or the equivalent amount in one or more tea bags and let the infusion steep for about 10-15 minutes.For external use in the mouth and throat area, prepare an infusion of 1.5 teaspoons (approx. 2.5 g) of sage leaves and 100 ml of boiling water, which is passed through a tea strainer after 10-15 minutes and then used for gargling or rinsing.

Contraindications

Sage tea should not be used if you are hypersensitive to the active substance.The use is not recommended for children under 18 years, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
