Instructions for use of half-moon tablets

Half moon tablets contain the active ingredient diphenhydramine hydrochloride and are used for the short-term treatment of sleep disorders.This sleeping pill belongs to the group of antihistamines and should only be used for sleep disorders of clinically significant severity.No prescription is required for this product.

Important notes

Half moon tablets must not be taken if you are allergic to diphenhydramine hydrochloride, other antihistamines or any of the other ingredients of the medicine.Also in acute asthma, glaucoma (angle-closure glaucoma), certain tumors of the adrenal medulla (pheochromocytoma), enlargement of the prostate gland with residual urine formation, epilepsy, potassium or magnesium deficiency, slow heartbeat (bradycardia), certain heart diseases, simultaneous use of drugs that prolong the QT-interval in the EKG or lead to hypokalemia, simultaneous intake of alcohol or MAO-Inhibitors, during pregnancy or breastfeeding and by children and adolescents under 18 years of age.

Particular caution is required in cases of impaired liver function, chronic lung diseases or asthma, and certain stomach dysfunctions.Loss of effectiveness may occur after repeated use.Taking it can lead to the development of physical and psychological dependence.When stopping treatment, the dose should be reduced gradually.

Application and dosage

Adults should take one tablet (50 mg diphenhydramine hydrochloride) with a little liquid in the evening 30 minutes before going to bed.The duration of treatment should be as short as possible and generally only a few days without exceeding 2 weeks.Patients with impaired liver or kidney function and elderly or debilitated patients should receive lower doses.

In the event of an overdose, dangerous symptoms such as disorders of the central nervous system and the cardiovascular system can occur.If an overdose is suspected, a doctor should be informed immediately.If a dose is missed, do not take a double dose.

Side effects

Possible side effects include drowsiness, drowsiness, difficulty concentrating, dizziness, muscle weakness, headaches, gastrointestinal complaints such as nausea, vomiting or diarrhea, dry mouth, constipation, heartburn, visual disturbances, difficulty urinating, cardiac arrhythmias, hypersensitivity reactions, increased skin sensitivity to light, changes in the blood count, increase in intraocular pressure, jaundice and paradoxical reactions such as restlessness, nervousness, agitation, anxiety, tremors orSleep disorders.

Storage

Keep half moon tablets out of the reach of children and do not store them above 25°C.Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the packaging.Do not throw away medicines via wastewater or household waste.Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicine when you no longer use it.

Composition

The active ingredient is diphenhydramine hydrochloride.One tablet contains 50 mg of diphenhydramine hydrochloride.The other ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose, cellulose granules, cellulose powder, potato starch, magnesium stearate (Ph.Eur.), talc and highly dispersed silicon dioxide.

Half-moon tablets are round, white, curved tablets on both sides with the image of a half-moon on one side and the embossing "HALBMOND" and a dividing notch on the other side.They are available in packs of 10 and 20 tablets.
