Areas of application

Kamillosan wound and healing bath is a herbal medicine that is used as a bath additive for inflammatory skin changes.It is suitable for compresses, rinses and baths for inflammation of the skin and mucous membranes.As a sitz bath it can be used for inflammatory diseases of the anal and genital area, for itching at the anus, to relieve hemorrhoids, anal fissures, anal eczema and perianal eczema as well as after operations in the anogenital area and for the follow-up treatment of vaginal surgical wounds and episiotomies.

Mode of action

The active ingredient in Kamillosan wound and healing bath is an extract from chamomile flowers.This extract has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and wound healing effects.The chamomile variety used, Manzana, is particularly rich in active ingredients and was bred specifically for Kamillosan.The preparation contains 42.8% alcohol by volume and is available in packs of 250 ml and 500 ml.

Kamillosan wound and healing bath contains 970 mg chamomile flower extract (1:4-4.5) with ethanol 38.5% (m/m) as an extractant.Additionally, sodium acetate, sodium ascorbate and sodium hydroxide are included as excipients.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be used if you are hypersensitive to chamomile and other composite plants.It should not be used as a partial and sitz bath for open wounds, large skin injuries, acute skin diseases, high fever and severe infections.It is also not suitable for use in the eyes and around the eyes, or for aerosol inhalation or intestinal lavage.

Dosage

For compresses and rinses, 45 ml (1½ measuring cups) to 1 liter of water is recommended.For partial and sitz baths, 30 ml (1 measuring cup) is intended for 1 liter of water.The preparation should usually be used 1-2 times a day, although the bathing time for partial and sitz baths should not exceed 5-10 minutes.The enclosed measuring cup must be used for precise dosage.

Intake

Kamillosan wound and healing bath is used to prepare compresses, rinses, partial and sitz baths.It is intended for external use only.For compresses, the diluted solution should be applied in the form of compresses.The bathing temperature should be perceived as pleasant for each individual.

Patient information

Particular caution is required when using the eye and the eye area or for aerosol inhalation, as irritation may occur.Chamomile preparations are not suitable for colonic irrigation.In individual cases, allergic reactions and even allergic shock can occur.Due to the alcohol content, the preparation should not be used for intestinal irrigation.The medicine is not suitable for children under 6 years of age because there are no sufficient studies and it contains alcohol.

Pregnancy

There are no sufficient studies on use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.For this reason, Kamillosan wound and healing bath should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.Before breastfeeding newborns, the medicine must be removed from the nipple area.

Other

The bath can be diluted with water.When used together with soap, lime soap can form a brown rim in the tub.Natural flocculation in the preparation has no influence on its effectiveness.If used for a long time, a doctor should be consulted.
