What are Emesan® tablets and what are they used for?
Emesan® tablets are an anti-nausea and vomiting agent from the group of H1 antihistamines.They are used for the prevention and symptomatic treatment of nausea and vomiting of various causes, especially motion sickness.The active ingredient diphenhydramine hydrochloride has a calming and sleep-promoting effect.No prescription is required for this product.
How should Emesan® tablets be taken?
Always take this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.The recommended dose is:
Adults: 1 tablet (equivalent to 50 mg diphenhydramine hydrochloride) up to 3 tablets per day (equivalent to 150 mg diphenhydramine hydrochloride).
Children over 12 years and adolescents: 1 tablet (equivalent to 50 mg diphenhydramine hydrochloride) up to 2 tablets per day (equivalent to 100 mg diphenhydramine hydrochloride).
Children 6-12 years: 1/2 tablet (equivalent to 25 mg diphenhydramine hydrochloride) up to 1 tablet per day (equivalent to 50 mg diphenhydramine hydrochloride).
Special patient groups such as patients with impaired liver or kidney function, elderly or debilitated patients should receive lower doses.To prevent nausea and vomiting, the lowest single dose per day should be taken initially.If acute symptoms occur, the dose can be increased to the maximum daily dose, leaving at least 4-6 hours between doses.
Take the tablets whole with liquid and swallow them quickly.To prevent motion sickness, it should be taken at least 30 minutes before departure.The duration of treatment should be as short as possible.If symptoms persist, please see a doctor.
What Emesan® tablets contain
The active ingredient is diphenhydramine hydrochloride.1 tablet contains 50 mg diphenhydramine hydrochloride.The other ingredients are magnesium stearate, calcium hydrogen phosphate dihydrate, lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, carboxymethyl starch sodium (type A) and highly disperse silicon dioxide.
How should Emesan® tablets be stored?
Keep this medicine out of the reach and reach of children and do not use it after the expiry date stated on the package.Do not store the medicine above 25 °C and do not dispose of it in wastewater.Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicine when you no longer use it.
Areas of application
Emesan® tablets are used for the prevention and symptomatic treatment of nausea and vomiting of various causes, especially motion sickness.If you don't feel better or even feel worse, contact your doctor.
Dosage and instructions for use
The recommended dose of Emesan® tablets is: adults 1 tablet 1-3 times a day, young people from 12 years 1 tablet 1-2 times a day, children from 6 to 12 years 1/2 tablet 1-2 times a day.To prevent motion sickness, it should be taken at least 30 minutes before departure.The total dose should not be exceeded without consulting a doctor or pharmacist.
Take the medicine with liquid.The duration of use depends on the type of complaint and should be as short as possible.If symptoms persist for a long time, you should consult your doctor.
Contraindications
The medicine must not be used in cases of hypersensitivity to the ingredients, heart disease, epilepsy, enlarged prostate with residual urine formation, pheochromocytoma, salt balance disorders, angle-closure glaucoma, narrowing of the digestive tract, bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive respiratory disease, impaired kidney or liver function and in children under 6 years of age.The medicine should not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Side effects
Possible side effects include gastrointestinal complaints, dry mouth, headaches, dizziness, drowsiness, drowsiness, difficulty concentrating, paradoxical reactions such as restlessness, nervousness, agitation, anxiety, tremors, sleep disorders, visual disturbances, increased intraocular pressure, allergic reactions, increased skin sensitivity to light, urinary disorders, bile stasis with jaundice, changes in blood counts and muscle weakness.
Mode of action
The active ingredient diphenhydramine blocks receptors for the messenger histamine.Through this blockade, it suppresses vasodilatation triggered by histamine and increased blood flow to the smallest hair vessels.It also combats nausea and has a calming and sleep-inducing effect.
Important notes
The ability to react may be impaired.Pay particular attention when driving or operating machines.Avoid excessive UV-radiation.Sudden discontinuation can cause problems.Be careful if you have an intolerance to lactose.There may be medicines with which interactions occur.
Patient information
Particular caution is required in cases of impaired liver or kidney function, chronic lung disease or asthma, certain stomach disorders and in elderly or debilitated patients.Loss of effectiveness may occur after repeated use.The use can lead to the development of physical and psychological dependence.
Pregnancy
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.The active ingredient must not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Other
Preventive use should begin at the first signs.After ingestion, the skin may become sensitive to light.Drowsiness, memory problems and reduced ability to concentrate can have an adverse effect on the ability to drive or work with machines.Alcohol should not be consumed while taking it.
