Active ingredients and ingredients

The active ingredient in Spalt Headache is ibuprofen.Each soft capsule contains 200 mg ibuprofen.The other ingredients are macrogol 400/600, potassium hydroxide, solution of partially dehydrated sorbitol, gelatin, purified water, propylene glycol, polyvinyl acetate phthalate, quinoline yellow (E104), patent blue V (E131) and titanium dioxide (E171).

Dosage and application

Always take this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or exactly as your doctor has told you.Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.

For adults: In adults, if it is necessary to take this medicine for more than 3 days for fever or for more than 4 days for pain, or if symptoms worsen, medical advice should be sought.

Children and adolescents: If children and adolescents need to take this medicine for more than 3 days or if symptoms worsen, medical advice should be sought.

The recommended dose is:

Body weight (age): 20 kg - 29 kg (6-9 years), Single dose: 1 soft capsule (equivalent to 200 mg ibuprofen), Max. daily dose: 3 soft capsules (equivalent to 600 mg ibuprofen).

Body weight (age): 30 kg - 39 kg (10-11 years), Single dose: 1 soft capsule (equivalent to 200 mg ibuprofen), Max. daily dose: 4 soft capsules (equivalent to 800 mg ibuprofen).

Adolescents aged 12 and over and adults (>40 kg), single dose: 1-2 soft capsules (equivalent to 200-400 mg ibuprofen), maximum daily dose: 6 soft capsules (equivalent to 1200 mg ibuprofen).

If you have taken the maximum single dose, wait at least 6 hours before taking your next dose.The lowest effective dose should be used for the shortest duration necessary to relieve symptoms.

Dosage in the elderly: No special dosage adjustment is required.

Method of use: Please take the capsules whole with plenty of liquid (e.g. a glass of water) during or after a meal.For patients who have a sensitive stomach, it is recommended to take Spalt Headache with meals.

Storage

Keep medicines out of the reach of children.You may no longer use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the outer carton/container.Do not store Spalt Headache above +25°C.Never dispose of medicines via wastewater.Ask your pharmacy how to throw away medicine when you no longer use it.

Side effects

Possible side effects include gastrointestinal complaints such as nausea, vomiting, heartburn, flatulence, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, bleeding in the gastrointestinal area, tarry stools, gastritis, ulcers in the digestive tract, inflammation of the oral mucosa, headache, dizziness, tiredness, insomnia, irritability, agitation, hypersensitivity reactions of the skin such as rash and itching, attacks of shortness of breath and visual disturbances.

If you notice any discomfort or change during treatment, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Contraindications

Spalt Headache must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to the ingredients, ulcers in the digestive tract, active bleeding such as cerebral hemorrhage or bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract, spontaneous (mucosal) skin swelling (angioedema) and severe dehydration.

Under certain circumstances, caution should be exercised in the case of gastrointestinal complaints, inflammatory bowel diseases, hematopoietic disorders, blood clotting disorders, high blood pressure, heart failure, coronary heart disease, circulatory disorders in the periphery, circulatory disorders in the cerebral vessels, impaired kidney function, impaired liver function, collagen vascular disease, porphyria and major operations that have recently taken place.

Children under 6 years of age should generally not use the medicine.Elderly patients aged 65 and over should have their treatment coordinated with their doctor and carefully monitored.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Important notes

The ability to react can also be impaired when used as intended, especially in higher doses or in combination with alcohol.Pay particular attention when you drive or operate machines (including at home) that could cause you injury.

If you have pain or fever, do not use it for longer than stated in the package leaflet without medical advice!

If you use painkillers long-term, you may experience headaches caused by the painkiller.Talk to your doctor to prevent your headaches from becoming chronic.

Habitual use of painkillers can cause permanent kidney damage.If several painkillers are combined, or if one painkiller contains several active ingredients, the risk of this increases.

Be careful if you are allergic to painkillers or dyes (e.g. quinoline yellow with the E number E 104).Be careful if you have an intolerance to fructose (fruit sugar).

There may be medicines with which interactions occur.You should therefore generally tell your doctor or pharmacist before starting treatment with a new medicine that you are already using.

Alcohol consumption should be avoided if possible during long-term treatment.Occasional alcohol consumption in small amounts is permitted, but not with the medication.
