Constipation is a common problem in children between 6 months and 8 years old.Laxbene® junior 4 g Neutral is a medicine specially developed for this age group that can help relieve constipation.It contains the active ingredient macrogol 4000, which belongs to the group of osmotic laxatives.These agents increase the water content in the stool and thus make bowel movements easier.

Area of application

Laxbene® junior 4 g Neutral is used for the symptomatic treatment of constipation in children between 6 months and 8 years.It should be used in conjunction with appropriate lifestyle and dietary changes.Treatment should not last longer than 3 months as there are no clinical data on longer treatments.

No prescription is required for this product.

Contraindications

Laxbene® junior 4 g Neutral must not be taken if your child is allergic to macrogol (PEG = polyethylene glycol) or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.The medicine must also not be used in cases of small or large intestine diseases such as ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease, abdominal pain of unknown origin, perforation in the gastrointestinal tract or intestinal obstruction.

Dosage

The recommended dose is:

From ages 6 months to 1 year: 1 sachet per day.

1 to 4 years: 1 to 2 sachets per day.

4 to 8 years: 2 to 4 sachets per day.

With a dosage of one sachet per day, treatment should be carried out in the morning.Higher dosages are divided into a morning and an evening dose.After each intake of a sachet, it is also recommended to drink 125 ml of a liquid such as water.The daily dosage should be adjusted depending on the effect achieved.

The effect of Laxbene® junior 4 g Neutral occurs within 24 to 48 hours after taking it.An increase in the frequency of bowel movements achieved after ingestion can be maintained through a healthy lifestyle and diet.

Intake

Immediately before taking, dissolve the contents of the sachet in a glass of water (at least 50 ml) and then drink the liquid.The resulting solution is clear and transparent.

Patient information

Treating constipation with a laxative should support a healthy lifestyle and diet.Please talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse before taking the product.

If diarrhea occurs after treatment, electrolyte imbalances may occur.This risk is increased in older people and those with liver or kidney disease, as well as those taking diuretics.If you belong to one of these groups and you experience diarrhea, you must see your doctor so that he or she can check the electrolyte levels in your blood through a blood test.

Before using this medicine on your child, you should seek your doctor's opinion so that an organic cause of constipation can be ruled out.After 3 months of treatment, the doctor should assess your child's physical condition.

The medicine has no influence or a negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.

Laxbene® junior 4 g Neutral can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
