NasalDuo® nasal spray for children: gentle relief from a cold

NasalDuo® children's nasal spray from ratiopharm has been specially developed for children between 2 and 6 years of age to gently clear blocked noses and care for irritated mucous membranes.The nasal spray contains the active ingredients xylometazoline and dexpanthenol.Xylometazoline has a decongestant effect and helps to narrow the nasal mucosa, thereby clearing the nose.Dexpanthenol, a derivative of the vitamin pantothenic acid, promotes wound healing and protects the mucous membranes.

Areas of application

NasalDuo® nasal spray for children is used to reduce the swelling of the nasal mucosa when there is a runny nose.It also supports the healing of skin and mucous membrane damage, treats episodic runny nose and helps with nasal breathing obstruction after surgical procedures on the nose.The nasal spray is especially suitable for children between 2 and 6 years.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The active ingredients in NaseDuo® nasal spray children are xylometazoline hydrochloride and dexpanthenol.Xylometazoline narrows the blood vessels and causes the nasal mucosa to become swollen.Dexpanthenol promotes wound healing and protects the mucous membranes.The nasal spray also contains the excipients disodium hydrogen phosphate, potassium dihydrogen phosphate and water for injection purposes.

Contraindications

The nasal spray must not be used if you are allergic to xylometazoline hydrochloride, dexpanthenol or any of the other ingredients of the medicine.It should also not be used for dry rhinitis, after neurosurgical procedures or in children under 2 years of age.

Dosage

The usual dose for children between 2 and 6 years of age is 1 spray into each nostril up to 3 times a day as needed.The dosage depends on individual sensitivity and clinical effect.The nasal spray should not be used for longer than 7 days unless the doctor orders further use.Reapplication should only be carried out after a break of several days.

Application

The nasal spray is intended for use in the nose.After removing the protective cap, insert the spray opening into the nostril and activate the pump once.Breathe calmly through your nose while spraying.After use, wipe the spray head with a clean paper towel and replace the protective cap.Before the first application and after a treatment break of more than 7 days, activate the pump several times until an even spray mist is released.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using the nasal spray if you are being treated with certain medicines for depression, medicines that increase or lower blood pressure.You should also consult before use if you have increased intraocular pressure, coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, tumors of the adrenal gland, metabolic disorders or porphyria.It may only be used for chronic colds under medical supervision.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Before using any medicines, ask your doctor or pharmacy for advice.The nasal spray can be used during pregnancy for no more than a week when used as directed.It is not known whether xylometazoline and dexpanthenol are excreted in breast milk.A risk to the infant cannot be ruled out.A decision must be made as to whether breastfeeding should be interrupted or whether treatment with the nasal spray should be avoided.

NaseDuo® nasal spray children is free of preservatives and therefore gentle on the sensitive nasal mucosa.It is suitable for children aged 2 and over and can be used up to three times a day for a maximum of one week.
