Otriven against colds 0.025% nose drops have been specially developed for infants and small children under 2 years of age.These nasal drops have a quick and long-lasting effect on nasal congestion and can be dosed precisely thanks to the dosing dropper.The easy, one-handed use makes it particularly suitable for babies.Otriven contains the decongestant active ingredient xylometazoline, which reduces swelling in the nasal mucosa.The nasal drops are suitable for a cold and to facilitate the drainage of secretions in the event of a sinus infection.

Area of application
Otriven against colds 0.025% nasal drops are intended for use in infants and small children under 2 years of age.They are suitable for inflammatory conditions of the mucous membranes in the nasopharynx, such as a cold, to facilitate the drainage of secretions in the case of sinusitis or for middle ear catarrh.
Most people are plagued by a cold once or several times a year.A cold usually lasts about a week, but the stuffy nose symptom only lasts about five days.Otriven contains the proven active ingredient xylometazoline and can be used for up to seven days.

Otriven against colds 0.025% nose drops contain the active ingredient xylometazoline hydrochloride with a concentration of 0.25 mg per milliliter.Additionally, the product contains purified water, sorbitol, sodium chloride, sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate, disodium hydrogen phosphate, sodium edetate and benzalkonium chloride.
Contraindications
Otriven for colds 0.025% nasal drops should not be used if you are known to be hypersensitive to the active ingredient, if you have dry inflammation of the nasal mucosa with crust formation or if you have a glaucoma attack due to increased intraocular pressure due to glaucoma.If you have severe cardiovascular diseases, pheochromocytoma, metabolic disorders, a genetic disorder in the formation of parts of the red blood pigment (porphyria) or a benign enlargement of the prostate, a doctor should be consulted before use.
Dosage
Otriven against colds 0.025% nasal drops are intended for use in infants and small children under 2 years of age.It is recommended to use 1 drop in each nostril, 2 to 3 times a day (every 8 to 10 hours).Application should not be exceeded three times per day per nostril.The nasal drops must not be used for more than seven consecutive days.The recommended dosage must not be exceeded.
Before the first use, the dropper must be prepared.To do this, point the bottle opening downwards and pump it by applying pressure to the finger rest until a drop emerges.After another seven pumps, the dripper is ready for use.For further applications, the dropper is immediately ready to use.If the medicine has not been used for more than seven days, the dropper must be activated as before the first use.
Before use, the child's nose should be thoroughly cleaned.It should be used with the child lying down with their head tilted slightly to the side.Hold the dropper directly in front of the lower nostril and instill 1 drop.It should be avoided to insert the dropper into the nostril.Then let the drops take effect briefly.To treat the other nostril, turn the child's head slightly to the other side and repeat the process on the now lower nostril.After use, clean the dropper with a clean cloth and put the protective cap back on the bottle.For hygienic reasons and to avoid infections, it should be noted that each dosing dropper may only be used for one patient at a time.
Intake

Use the nasal drops as follows: Clean your child's nose thoroughly before using the preparation.It should be used with the child lying down with their head tilted slightly to the side.Hold the dropper from above directly in front of the lower nostril and instill 1 drop.Avoid inserting the dropper into the nostril.Allow the drop to take effect briefly. To treat the other nostril, turn the child's head slightly to the other side and repeat the process on the now lower nostril.After use, clean the dropper with a clean cloth and put the protective cap back on the bottle.
The last application of the day should, if possible, be before going to bed.For hygienic reasons and to avoid infections, please note that each dosage unit may only be used for one patient.
Patient information
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using the medicine.The nasal drops, like other medicines that decongest mucous membranes, can cause sleep disorders, dizziness, tremors, cardiac arrhythmias or increased blood pressure in particularly sensitive patients.
The nasal drops should not be used for more than seven consecutive days.If symptoms persist, contact your doctor.Prolonged or excessive use can lead to chronic swelling (rhinitis medicamentosa) and/or loss (atrophy) of the nasal mucosa.
For babies under one year of age it should only be used on medical advice.Newborns and young infants should be treated with particular caution.There are isolated reports of serious side effects (particularly respiratory failure) when using the recommended dose in this age group.Exceeding the dose must be avoided at all costs.
The medicine has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.
Pregnancy
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
The medicine should not be used during pregnancy.It is not known whether xylometazoline passes into breast milk.The medicine should not be used during breastfeeding.
Notes
Contains benzalkonium chloride.Read the package leaflet.As with all nasal drops for infants and young children, use should only be carried out under adult supervision.Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
