Ibuflam® 40 mg/ml is a liquid ibuprofen suspension used to treat fever and mild to moderate pain.The juice is suitable for children aged one year and over or weighing more than 10 kg, as well as for teenagers and adults.It contains 40 mg of ibuprofen per milliliter and has a pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effect.Due to its liquid form, the juice is particularly suitable for children and is suitable if taking tablets is not yet possible.The effect usually occurs within 30 minutes of ingestion.

The active ingredient ibuprofen belongs to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and has been used for many years.The dosage is adjusted to your weight using the included dosing aid, which supports precise and easy application.The juice has a pleasant raspberry flavor and is sugar-free, which can reduce the risk of tooth decay and is well accepted by many children.

Ibuflam® 40 mg/ml is used for the short-term symptomatic treatment of mild and moderate pain and fever.The juice is suitable for children aged one year and over or weighing more than 10 kg, as well as for teenagers and adults who prefer a liquid alternative.Areas of application include fever or pain, for example in the context of simple infections, teething problems or after vaccinations.

Mode of action

The active ingredient ibuprofen blocks certain enzymes in the body known as cyclooxygenases (COX 1 and 2).This reduces the production of prostaglandins, which are involved in the development of inflammation, fever and pain.Ibuprofen thus alleviates these symptoms.

The active ingredient in Ibuflam® 40 mg/ml is ibuprofen.One milliliter of the suspension contains 40 mg of ibuprofen.The other ingredients include sorbitol solution 70% (non-crystallizing), microcrystalline cellulose and carmellose sodium (Ph. Eur.), sodium benzoate, raspberry flavor, saccharin sodium, polysorbate 60, pink anthocyanin extract (E 163), citric acid monohydrate and purified water.

Contraindications

Ibuflam® 40 mg/ml must not be used if you are allergic to ibuprofen or any of the other ingredients of the medicine.The medicine should also not be taken if you have certain previous illnesses or in specific situations, such as unexplained blood formation disorders, existing or recurrent stomach/duodenal ulcers or bleeding, a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation, cerebral haemorrhage or other active bleeding, severe liver or kidney dysfunction, severe heart failure, severe dehydration, in the last third of pregnancy or in children under 10 kg (1 year).

Dosage

The usual dose of Ibuflam® 40 mg/ml depends on the patient's body weight.For children between 10 and 15 kg (1-3 years), the single dose is 2.5 ml (100 mg ibuprofen), with a maximum daily dose of up to 7.5 ml (300 mg ibuprofen).Children between 16 and 19 kg (4-5 years) receive a single dose of 3.75 ml (150 mg ibuprofen), with a maximum daily dose of up to 11.25 ml (450 mg ibuprofen).Children between 20 and 29 kg (6-9 years) receive a single dose of 5 ml (200 mg ibuprofen), with a maximum daily dose of 15 ml (600 mg ibuprofen).Children between 30 and 39 kg (10-11 years) receive a single dose of 5 ml (200 mg ibuprofen), with a maximum daily dose of 20 ml (800 mg ibuprofen).Adolescents and adults weighing 40 kg or more receive a single dose of 5-10 ml (200-400 mg ibuprofen), with a maximum daily dose of 20-30 ml (800-1200 mg ibuprofen).There should be at least 6 hours between two doses.

Intake

The bottle should be shaken vigorously before use.The bottle should be kept upright and should not be turned upside down.Patients with a sensitive stomach should take the medicine with meals.

Patient information

Ibuflam® 40 mg/ml may interfere with or be affected by other medicines.These include, for example, medicines that have an anticoagulant effect or lower blood pressure.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.While using the preparation, the doctor should be notified if pregnancy is detected.This preparation must not be used in the last trimester of pregnancy.The active ingredient ibuprofen and its breakdown products only pass into breast milk in small quantities, so that if the recommended dose is used for a short time, it is usually not necessary to interrupt breastfeeding.This preparation can impair fertility in women; this effect is reversible after discontinuation of the drug.
