Area of application

Livocab direct eye drops are used to treat allergic conjunctivitis, such as those that occur with hay fever or spring catarrh.The active ingredient levocabastine works quickly and effectively, so that noticeable relief of symptoms occurs after just 10 to 15 minutes.These eye drops are suitable for children over one year old, teenagers and adults and can be used without additional prophylactic medication.

Mode of action

The active ingredient levocabastine in Livocab direct eye drops belongs to the group of antihistamines.It suppresses allergic symptoms directly at the site of inflammation.Due to the small amount of active ingredient per application, the product is particularly well tolerated and has no or only minimal sedating effects.Livocab direct eye drops are approved for nursing mothers and children aged one year and over.

1 ml suspension of Livocab direct eye drops contains 0.5 mg levocabastine, equivalent to 0.54 mg levocabastine hydrochloride.One drop contains approximately 0.015 mg of levocabastine.The other ingredients are water for injections, propylene glycol, disodium hydrogen phosphate, sodium dihydrogen phosphate 1 H2O, hypromellose, polysorbate 80, benzalkonium chloride solution and sodium edetate (Ph. Eur.).

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity reactions can occur to all medicines.Livocab direct eye drops must not be used if an allergy to the active ingredient or one of the other ingredients is known.The medicine is not suitable for infants under one year of age.

Dosage

Children from one year of age, adolescents and adults should give 1 drop of Livocab directly into each eye twice a day.If the symptoms become more severe, the dosage can be increased up to 4 times a day.The bottle should be shaken well before each use.Tilt your head back, pull down your lower eyelid and drip the drop into the conjunctival sac.The duration of use depends on the symptoms and should be continued for as long as you are exposed to the triggering substances.

Patient information

The duration of use should be continued for as long as one is exposed to the triggering substances.If the recommended amounts do not provide sufficient relief from symptoms, a doctor should be consulted.Hard and soft contact lenses should only be worn during treatment after consulting an ophthalmologist and should not be reinserted until at least 15 minutes after using the eye drops.

Pregnancy

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, medication should only be taken after consultation with a doctor or pharmacist.Animal experiments have shown no evidence of harmful effects, but there is no experience with humans.Use should be avoided if possible during the first three months of pregnancy.The medicine only gets into breast milk in very small amounts, so the eye drops can be used during breastfeeding.

Notes

Benzalkonium chloride can cause discoloration of soft contact lenses.Therefore, soft contact lenses should not be worn during treatment with Livocab direct eye drops.No prescription is required for this product.
