Hofmann's myrrh tincture

Myrrh tincture Hofmanns is a herbal medicine that is used to treat mild inflammation of the gums and oral mucosa.The active ingredient is a tincture of myrrh, which works as a natural mixture.Myrrh is a resin-rich, thorny shrub found in northeast Africa.The main ingredients of myrrh are mucilage and essential oils.The tincture is made from the air-dried resin.

Areas of application

Hofmann's myrrh tincture is used for inflammation of the gums (gingivitis) and the oral mucosa (stomatitis) as well as for denture pressure points.The tincture has an astringent, disinfectant effect and promotes wound healing.It also inhibits the growth of fungi.

Composition

100 ml of myrrh tincture Hofmanns contains 100 ml of myrrh tincture Ph. Eur., a tincture of myrrh (Myrrha) in a ratio of 1:5 (drug to extractant).The extractant is ethanol 90% (V/V).The tincture contains 85% alcohol by volume.

Dosage form and packaging

Hofmann's myrrh tincture is available as a tincture.The pack contains either 30 ml or 50 ml of the medicine.

Application and dosage

The affected areas of the gums or oral mucosa can be brushed with the undiluted myrrh tincture 2 to 3 times a day.To prepare a rinse and gargle solution, add 30 to 60 drops of myrrh tincture to a glass of warm water.If used undiluted, a slight burning sensation and taste irritation may occur temporarily.

Contraindications

Known hypersensitivity to one of the ingredients speaks against the use of Hofmann's myrrh tincture.Children under 12 years of age should not use the medicine.Its use is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Side effects

When used undiluted, a slight burning sensation on the mucous membrane and taste disturbances may occur.If you notice any side effects that are not listed in this leaflet, please report them to your doctor or pharmacist.

Storage instructions

Hofmann's myrrh tincture should be protected from fire, tightly closed and kept in the dark.The medicine should be kept out of the reach of children.Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the package.
