Instructions for use for Zinc 20 AAA-Pharma Dragees

Zinc 20 AAA-Pharma dragees are a zinc preparation that is used to treat clinically proven zinc deficiency conditions if these cannot be remedied through diet.The active ingredient is zinc sulfate, which is contained in each coated tablet in an amount of 88 mg, which corresponds to 20 mg of zinc.

No prescription is required for this product.However, in order to achieve optimal treatment success, the dragees should be taken according to the instructions.

Important notes

Zinc 20 AAA-Pharma dragees contain lactose, glucose and sorbitol.Patients with an intolerance to these sugars should therefore only take the preparation after consulting a doctor.The excipient macrogol glycerol hydroxystearate can cause stomach upset and diarrhea.

Dosage and application

Adults should take one coated tablet daily, preferably on an empty stomach and with plenty of water.The tablet should be taken about an hour before a meal.The duration of use depends on the therapeutic success and should be done in consultation with a doctor.

If you overdose, you may experience symptoms such as a metallic taste, headache, or fatigue.In this case, the stomach should be emptied and plenty of milk drunk.If symptoms persist, a doctor should be consulted.

If a dose is missed, the next dose should be taken as usual.A double dose should not be taken.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Zinc 20 AAA-Pharma Dragees can have side effects, although not everyone gets them.Possible side effects include gastrointestinal symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and stomach irritation.These symptoms occur more often if the tablets are taken on an empty stomach.

Interactions

Zinc can affect the absorption of other medicines.Chelating agents such as D-penicillamine, dimercaptopropanesulfonic acid (DMPS), dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA) or ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) can reduce zinc absorption or increase excretion.Phosphates, iron, copper and calcium salts taken at the same time can also impair zinc absorption.

Zinc can affect the availability of copper, and high amounts of zinc can reduce the absorption and storage of iron.Zinc reduces the absorption of tetracyclines, ofloxazine and other quinolones.For this reason, there should be an interval of at least three hours between taking zinc and these medications.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

A doctor or pharmacist should be consulted before taking Zink 20 AAA-Pharma dragees during pregnancy or breastfeeding.The medicine may only be taken during pregnancy if there is a proven zinc deficiency.

Storage

Zinc 20 AAA-Pharma coated tablets should be stored carefully and out of the reach of children.The medicine should not be stored above 30°C.The expiry date on the pack should be noted.

Composition

Each coated tablet contains 88 mg zinc sulfate, 7 H2O, which is equivalent to 20 mg zinc.Other ingredients are cellulose powder, lactose monohydrate, highly disperse silicon dioxide, talc, sorbitol, macrogol 6000, magnesium stearate, sucrose, macrogol glycerol hydroxystearate, montan glycol wax, sodium dodecyl sulfate, povidone K 25, corn starch, carmellose sodium, glucose syrup, calcium carbonate, white clay, arabic gum, titanium dioxide,Stearic acid, microcrystalline cellulose and hypromellose.
