Active ingredients and ingredients

The active ingredient in Thrombareduct Sandoz Gel is heparin sodium, which is obtained from pig tissue.100 grams of the gel contains 1.3 grams of heparin sodium, which is equivalent to 180,000 international units.The gel also contains the following other ingredients: pine needle oil, mountain pine oil (contains limonene), levomenthol, sodium edetate, trolamine, polyacrylic acid, poly(oxyethylene)-6-glycerol mono/dialkanoate (C8-C10), polysorbate 80, 2-propanol, sorbitol solution 70% and purified water.

Mode of action

Application and dosage

Thrombareduct Sandoz Gel should be applied thinly and evenly to the affected area 2 to 3 times daily.Hands should be washed thoroughly with soap after use.The duration of use is determined by the doctor and should not be longer than 10 days.The gel is intended for external use only and must not be applied to mucous membranes, open wounds or weeping eczema.

Contraindications

Thrombareduct Sandoz Gel must not be used if there is hypersensitivity to heparin, limonene or any of the other ingredients.The gel must also not be used if you have hemophilia (bleeding disease) or on open wounds.If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should consult a doctor or pharmacist before use.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Thrombareduct Sandoz Gel can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.Possible side effects include allergic reactions such as redness of the skin and itching, which usually disappear quickly after stopping the medication.At very high local doses, an increased tendency to bleed may occur and hematomas (bruises) may increase.Limonene can also cause allergic reactions.

Storage

Thrombareduct Sandoz Gel should be kept out of the reach of children.The medicine must not be used after the expiry date stated on the container.After opening, the gel has a shelf life of 1 year and should be stored at room temperature.

Notes

If you experience new symptoms that may indicate a thrombosis or pulmonary embolism, such as swelling and warmth in the affected part of the body, red and tender skin, tightness and pain in the foot, calf and back of the knee, or sudden shortness of breath, chest pain and weakness/collapse, you should consult a doctor immediately.If drugs that interfere with blood clotting are used at the same time, an increased risk of bleeding cannot be ruled out.
