Bitter Elixir Syrup is an anthroposophical medicine that is used to stimulate peptic digestive activity.It harmonizes the motor and secretory functions and can help with loss of appetite, feeling of fullness and nausea.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The active ingredient of Bitter Elixir Syrup is a watery total extract of gentian root, ginger root, calamus root, pepper fruits and wormwood.The medicine contains sucrose as an additional ingredient.Gentian root, ginger root, calamus rhizome, black pepper and wormwood are each processed as an aqueous extract with sugar.The product also contains 2.33 g sucrose as an excipient and 0.133 BE total carbohydrates.

Bitter Elixir Syrup is used according to anthroposophical knowledge of humanity and nature.It serves to stimulate peptic digestive activity by harmonizing motor and secretory functional processes.These include, for example, loss of appetite, feeling of fullness and nausea.

Contraindications

Bitter Elixir must not be used if you are known to be hypersensitive to ginger and pepper, have stomach and intestinal ulcers, or are pregnant or breastfeeding.If you have gallstones, the medicine should only be used after consulting a doctor.

Precautions and warnings

If symptoms persist or are unclear, a doctor should be consulted.There is no adequately documented experience with use in small children, therefore Bitter Elixir should not be used in children under 6 years of age.The medicine contains sucrose, so if you have a known intolerance to certain sugars, it should only be taken after consulting a doctor.One tablespoon (15 ml) contains 7 g of sucrose.Bitter elixir can be harmful to teeth (caries).

Dosage and method of administration

Unless otherwise prescribed, children aged 6 to under 12 should take 1 teaspoon of Bitter Elixir undiluted or diluted with water 1 to 3 times a day before meals.Adults and children aged 12 and over should take 1 tablespoon of syrup, possibly diluted with water, 1 to 3 times a day before meals.

Duration of application

The treatment should be completed after 5 days.If there is no improvement within this period, a doctor should be consulted.

Side effects

So far there are no known side effects.

Storage

Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the container and the outer packaging.Once opened, Bitter Elixir has a shelf life of 3 weeks and should be stored in the refrigerator at 2-8°C.The medicine is naturally cloudy and should be shaken before use.
