Leukichtan 10% gel is a medicine that contains the active ingredient sodium bituminosulfonate (ichthyol sodium), light.It is used for the symptomatic treatment of non-infected, non-necrotized wounds, especially in venous leg ulcers with clean wound conditions in chronic venous insufficiency.No prescription is required for this product.
The gel contains propylene glycol and butylated hydroxytoluene, which can cause skin irritation.Please read the entire package leaflet carefully before you start using it.Keep this leaflet and ask your pharmacist if you need further information or advice.
Areas of application
Leukichtan Gel contains an active ingredient from the group of sulfonated shale oils and is an agent for healing wounds.It is used for the symptomatic treatment of non-infected, non-necrotized wounds, especially in venous leg ulcers with clean wound conditions in chronic venous insufficiency.
What should you consider before use?
Leukichtan Gel must not be used if you are allergic to sulfonated shale oils or any of the other ingredients.Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using the gel.Also tell your doctor or pharmacist about other medicines you are taking.
Leukichtan Gel must not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding as there is insufficient knowledge about the risks.The gel contains propylene glycol and butylated hydroxytoluene, which can cause skin irritation.
How to use Leukichtan Gel?
Always use the gel exactly as described or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.Unless otherwise prescribed, the gel should be applied to damaged skin once or twice a day.The wound conditions must be clean before applying the gel.
The gel is applied thickly to the wound to be treated and then bandaged with gauze, sterile compresses and an elastic bandage.Additional compression therapy is mandatory.Every time the dressing is changed, the wound is showered with clean water.
The duration of use depends on the success of the treatment and should not exceed 20 weeks.If you have used more than you should, stop taking the product and see your doctor.If you forget to use it, do not use a double dose.
What side effects are possible?
Like all medicines, Leukichtan Gel can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.Rarely, there may be a brief burning sensation in the wound area.Skin intolerance reactions are rarely possible and can manifest themselves as itching, redness or blisters.If such symptoms occur, stop treatment and consult a doctor.
How to store Leukichtan Gel?
Keep the medicine out of the reach and reach of children and do not use it after the expiry date stated on the packaging.Once opened, the medicine can be used for 36 months, but not beyond the expiry date.Never dispose of medicines via wastewater.

Leukichtan Gel contains the active ingredient sodium bituminosulfonate (ichthyol sodium), light. 100 g of gel contains 10.0 g of sodium bituminosulfonate.The other ingredients are poloxamer 407, propylene glycol, butylhydroxytoluene and purified water.
Leukichtan Gel is available in tubes of 15g, 30g and 120g.Not all pack sizes may be marketed.
