Instructions for use of Instillagel
Instillagel is a sterile gel for instillation with local anesthetic and disinfectant effects.It is used for mucosal disinfection and local anesthesia in various medical procedures, such as catheterizations, probing, endoscopies, fistula catheter changes, intubations and for preventing injuries to the rectum and colon.The product is suitable for use in adults and children aged 2 years and over.No prescription is required for this product.
Active ingredients and ingredients
Instillagel contains the following active ingredients: lidocaine hydrochloride 1 H2O, chlorhexidine digluconate, methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate and propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate.The other ingredients are hyetellose, propylene glycol, sodium hydroxide and purified water.
Application and dosage
Instillagel is used in different quantities depending on the area of application.For catheterizations, 6 ml or 11 ml of the gel is instilled.For cystoscopies and endoscopies, 11 ml, possibly an additional 6 ml or 11 ml, can be used.For urethral strictures, 11 ml is instilled, and for disinfection, 6 ml or 11 ml of gel is evenly distributed over the mucous membrane.For other applications, 6 ml or 11 ml are slowly instilled into the respective body opening or distributed onto the catheter or instrument to be inserted.
It should always be used after consultation with a doctor.In children, the maximum dose of 2.9 mg lidocaine hydrochloride per kg body weight should not be exceeded.
Side effects
Like all medicines, Instillagel can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.Possible side effects include allergic reactions, drop in blood pressure, bradycardia or convulsions.If side effects occur, a doctor should be consulted.
Storage and disposal
Instillagel should be kept out of the reach of children and should not be used after the expiry date stated on the packaging.After opening the individual syringe, the gel should be used immediately and the rest discarded.Medicines should not be disposed of in wastewater or household waste.Ask your pharmacist how to properly dispose of the medicine.
