Instructions for use for Instillagel 6 ml sterile

Instillagel 6 ml sterile is a sterile gel that is used both for mucous membrane disinfection and for local anesthesia.It is suitable for various medical procedures such as catheterizations, probing, endoscopies, intubations and changing fistula catheters.The product is suitable for adults and children aged 2 years and over.

Active ingredients and ingredients

Instillagel 6 ml contains the following active ingredients: lidocaine hydrochloride 1 H20, chlorhexidine digluconate, methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate and propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate.The excipients include hyetellose, propylene glycol, sodium hydroxide and purified water.

Application and dosage

The use of Instillagel 6 ml depends on the medical procedure.During catheterization, 6 ml of the gel is instilled, while during cystoscopies and endoscopies up to 11 ml can be used.For disinfection, 6 ml or 11 ml of gel is distributed evenly on the mucous membrane.In children, the maximum dose of 2.9 mg lidocaine hydrochloride per kg body weight should not be exceeded.

Contraindications and precautions

Instillagel 6 ml must not be used if there is an allergy to one of the active ingredients or excipients, if there is known hypersensitivity to lidocaine and other local anesthetics of the amide type, if there are significant disorders of the conduction system and in children under 2 years of age.You should speak to a doctor before use, especially if you are taking other medicines.

Side effects

Possible side effects include allergic reactions to the active ingredients, including serious reactions such as anaphylactic shock.Rarely, allergic reactions can also occur due to chlorhexidine and the hydroxybenzoates.Systemic effects of the local anesthetic lidocaine may occur in severe urethral injuries.

Storage and disposal

Instillagel 6 ml should be kept out of the reach of children and should not be used after the expiry date stated on the packaging.After opening the individual syringe, the gel should be used immediately and the rest discarded.Medicines should not be disposed of in wastewater or household waste.Ask your pharmacist how to properly dispose of the medicine.
