What is Ardeydorm® and what is it used for?

Ardeydorm® is a sleeping pill that contains the active ingredient tryptophan.Tryptophan promotes sleep because it is a precursor to the neurotransmitter serotonin.A drop in serotonin levels in the brain during nighttime rest can lead to sleep disorders.As a serotonin precursor, tryptophan is said to counteract a serotonin deficiency.

Areas of application

Ardeydorm® promotes willingness to sleep and makes it easier to fall asleep if you have sleep disorders.It is a medicine to support sleep readiness.

Dosage and instructions for use

Always take Ardeydorm® exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.The recommended dose for adults is 2 tablets daily (corresponding to 1 g of tryptophan).After consulting your doctor, this dose can be increased to up to 4 tablets (equivalent to 2 g tryptophan).Take the tablets with some liquid 20 - 30 minutes before going to bed.The duration of use should be checked by your doctor after 3-4 weeks.There is no experience with its use in long-term treatment.

Contraindications

Ardeydorm® must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to tryptophan or any of the other components of the preparation, suffer from severe liver dysfunction, suffer from a disorder of brain function as a result of chronic liver disease (hepatic encephalopathy), suffer from severe kidney disease and disorders of kidney function, suffer from small intestinal carcinoid (certain tumor disease) with heart damage (Hedinger syndrome) or if you are taking certain medications for depression due to a mental illness(monoamine oxidase inhibitors, serotonin reuptake inhibitors) or taking the appetite suppressant dexfenfluramine.Children and adolescents under 18 years of age must not use the medicine.

Side effects

Possible side effects of Ardeydorm® may include headache, dizziness, drowsiness, increased sensitivity to light and low blood pressure.If you notice any discomfort or change during treatment, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Composition

The active ingredient in Ardeydorm® is tryptophan.One tablet contains 500 mg of tryptophan.The other ingredients are cellulose powder, stearic acid (vegetable), magnesium stearate (vegetable), carboxymethyl starch sodium (type A), highly disperse silicon dioxide, talc, titanium dioxide and tricalcium phosphate.

Storage

Keep Ardeydorm® out of the reach of children and do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the carton and container.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.Do not store the medicine above 25°C and protect it from heat.

Important notes

No prescription is required for this product.The ability to react can also be impaired when used as intended, especially in higher doses or in combination with alcohol.Pay particular attention when you drive or operate machines (including at home) that could cause you injury.There may be medicines with which interactions occur.You should therefore generally tell your doctor or pharmacist before starting treatment with a new medicine that you are already using.
