SEPSO J Ointment, 25 g

Area of application

Sepso J ointment is an antiseptic containing povidone-iodine for antimicrobial skin and wound treatment.It is used repeatedly and for a limited period of time for cuts and abrasions, burns and scalds, infected and superinfected skin diseases, pressure ulcers (decubitus), open leg ulcers (ulcus cruris) and certain bacterial skin inflammations (pyoderma).

The ointment contains 100 mg of povidone-iodine (with an average molecular weight of 44,000 to 54,000 and 10% available iodine) per gram. Other ingredients include macrogol and purified water.

Contraindications

Sepso J ointment must not be used in cases of hypersensitivity to povidone-iodine or one of the excipients, in thyroid diseases, before and after radioiodine therapy, in newborns and infants up to 6 months, during pregnancy and during breastfeeding as well as in dermatitis herpetiformis Duhring.

Dosage

The ointment is applied several times a day if necessary, depending on the size of the area to be treated.At the beginning of the treatment of severely inflamed or weeping wounds, the ointment should be renewed every 4 - 6 hours.The ointment can remain on the wound for a long time and should be reapplied at the latest after it has been discolored.The duration of application depends on the area of application or the course of the disease.

Intake

Sepso J ointment is intended for external use.The affected areas are completely covered with the ointment.

Patient information

Particular caution is required when using Sepso J ointment, as it must not be used simultaneously or shortly afterwards with mercury derivatives.The oxidizing effect of povidone-iodine can influence various diagnostic examinations.No special precautions are required regarding the ability to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy

Sepso J ointment should only be used up to the 9th week of pregnancy after careful consideration of the benefits and risks by the treating doctor.The ointment must not be used after the 9th week of pregnancy or during breastfeeding.

Other

When the brown color of the ointment subsides, the area of skin to be treated should be coated again with fresh ointment.After use in infants and small children, thyroid function should be checked by a doctor.
