Area of application
Sepso J ointment is an antiseptic containing povidone-iodine for antimicrobial skin and wound treatment.It is used repeatedly and for a limited period of time for cuts and abrasions, burns and scalds, infected and superinfected skin diseases, pressure ulcers (decubitus), open leg ulcers (ulcus cruris) and certain bacterial skin inflammations (pyoderma).

The active ingredient in Sepso J ointment is povidone-iodine.It contains 100 mg povidone-iodine and 10 mg iodine per gram of ointment.The preparation contains macrogol and purified water as excipients.
Contraindications
Sepso J ointment must not be used in cases of hypersensitivity to povidone-iodine or one of the other ingredients, in thyroid diseases, before and after radioiodine therapy, in newborns and infants up to 6 months, during pregnancy and during breastfeeding as well as in dermatitis herpetiformis Duhring.
Dosage
The ointment is applied several times a day if necessary, depending on the size of the area to be treated.When starting to treat severely inflamed or weeping wounds, the ointment should be renewed every 4-6 hours.The duration of application depends on the area of application or the course of the disease.If you accidentally ingest large amounts, seek medical advice immediately.
Intake
Sepso J ointment is intended for external use.The affected skin areas are completely coated with the ointment.The brown color of the ointment indicates the presence of available iodine and therefore its effectiveness.If the brown color subsides, ointment should be applied again.
Patient information
Particular caution is required when using Sepso J ointment, as it must not be used simultaneously or shortly afterwards with mercury derivatives.The oxidizing effect of povidone-iodine can influence various diagnostic examinations.No special precautions are required regarding the ability to drive and use machines.
Pregnancy
Sepso J ointment should only be used up to the 9th week of pregnancy after careful consideration of the benefits and risks by the treating doctor.The ointment must not be used after the 9th week of pregnancy or during breastfeeding, as iodine crosses the placenta and passes into breast milk.
