Areas of application
Liquigel is an eye gel that is used for the symptomatic treatment of dry eyes.It serves as a replacement for natural tears when the surface of the eye is insufficiently moistened or the tear film is unstable.The gel forms a film on the cornea and conjunctiva that can replace tears.This is achieved by the active ingredient carbomer and the other ingredient polyvinyl alcohol (PVA).

Liquigel contains the active ingredient Carbomer 974 P in a concentration of 2.5 mg/g.In addition, it contains the excipients benzalkonium chloride, poly(vinyl alcohol), sorbitol, sodium acetate trihydrate, lysine monohydrate and water for injections.
Contraindications
Liquigel must not be used if you are allergic to Carbomer 974 P or any of the other ingredients of the medicine.During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the product should only be used after a careful benefit-risk analysis by the doctor.
Dosage
The usual dose is 1 drop instilled in the eye 1 to 4 times a day as needed.The duration of use depends on the symptoms and is determined by the doctor.In children and adolescents, effectiveness and safety are based on clinical experience as no data from clinical trials are available.
Intake
You should wash your hands before use.Tilt your head back slightly and gently pull your lower eyelid down until a small pocket forms.Invert the bottle and squeeze a drop into the eye.Release your lower eyelid and blink a few times.Repeat the process for the other eye if necessary.To avoid contamination, do not touch the eye or other surfaces with the drip tip.Close the bottle tightly after each use.
Patient information
Take special care when using Liquigel if you wear contact lenses.These must be removed before each use and may only be reinserted after 30 minutes at the earliest.Immediately after instillation, short-term blurred vision may occur, which may impair the ability to actively participate in traffic or operate machines.
Pregnancy
There is no experience with the use of Liquigel during pregnancy and breastfeeding.The preparation should only be used if the doctor has carried out a careful risk-benefit analysis.

Other
Benzalkonium chloride can cause discoloration of soft contact lenses.Hard contact lenses should be removed before instillation and only reinserted after 15 minutes.Immediately after instillation, blurred vision may occur and the ability to actively participate in traffic or operate machines may be impaired.
Storage
Keep Liquigel out of the reach of children.The medicine must not be used after the expiry date stated on the label and carton.After opening, Liquigel can be used for a maximum of 4 weeks.Do not store the bottle above 25°C and do not freeze it.Store the bottle in the outer carton to protect the contents from light.The bottle should be stored upside down in the outer carton when not in use.
Side effects
Possible side effects of Liquigel include mild, temporary blurred vision and burning eyes.Hypersensitivity reactions are very rare.If you notice any side effects, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
