What is Ringer's infusion solution B. Braun and what is it used for?
Ringer's infusion solution B. Braun is a clear, colorless aqueous solution that is used for the intravenous administration of fluid and electrolytes.It is used when the acidity of the blood is too low and the chloride level is low, to compensate for chloride losses, to briefly replenish the vascular system and to remedy a lack of fluids when the salt concentration in the blood plasma is normal or too low.It also serves as a carrier solution for suitable electrolyte concentrates and medications.
What do you need to consider before using Ringer infusion solution B. Braun?
Ringer's infusion solution B. Braun must not be used if there is too much fluid in the circulation, in severe heart disease with shortness of breath and swelling of the feet or legs, in severe kidney disease with restricted urine production and in swelling of the body tissue due to fluid accumulation.Particular caution is required in the event of a lack of fluids and increased salt concentration in the blood plasma, increased potassium, sodium or chloride levels in the blood, impaired kidney function and diseases that require restricted sodium intake.
Checks of serum electrolytes and water balance are required.Tell your doctor or pharmacist about other medicines you are taking or using, as these may interact with Ringer's infusion solution B. Braun.
How should Ringer infusion solution B. Braun be used?
The B. Braun Ringer infusion solution is administered by a doctor or healthcare professional as a venous drip (intravenous infusion).Your doctor will determine the right dose for you.The maximum daily dose is up to 40 ml per kg body weight per day, corresponding to 5.88 mmol sodium per kg body weight and 0.16 mmol potassium per kg body weight per day.The maximum infusion and drip rate depends on your clinical condition and will normally not exceed 5 ml per kg body weight per hour or 1.7 drops per kg body weight per minute.
Your doctor will decide how long the solution will be given to you.During the infusion, your fluid and salt levels as well as your acid-base balance and your blood sugar will be checked.In the event of accidental overdose, overhydration, electrolyte imbalances, and metabolic acidosis may occur.The treating doctor decides on countermeasures.
What side effects are possible?
Like all medicines, Ringer's infusion solution B. Braun can have side effects, although not everyone gets them.Possible side effects include increased blood chloride levels, fever reactions, injection site infections, local pain or reactions, vein irritation, blood clots in the veins and phlebitis.Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if any of the side effects listed seriously affects you or if you notice any side effects that are not listed in this leaflet.
How should Ringer's infusion solution B. Braun be stored?
Keep the medicine out of the reach and reach of children and do not use it after the expiry date stated on the container and carton.For microbiological reasons, mixtures should be used immediately.Normally, mixtures with other components should not be stored for longer than 24 hours at 2°C - 8°C unless prepared under controlled and validated aseptic conditions.This medicine does not require any special storage conditions.To be used only if the container is intact and the solution is clear.Any infusion solution that is not used after one application should be discarded.

Braun contains the active ingredients sodium chloride, potassium chloride and calcium chloride.1000 ml infusion solution contains 8.60 g sodium chloride, 0.30 g potassium chloride and 0.33 g calcium chloride dihydrate.The electrolytes in mmol/l are sodium ion 147, potassium ion 4.0, calcium ion 2.2 and chloride ion 156. The other ingredient is water for injection purposes.
