Area of application

The eye drops contain the active ingredient ketotifen fumarate, which is an anti-allergic drug.The medicine is used to treat seasonal allergic conjunctivitis (itchy, watery, red or swollen eyes and/or eyelids).No prescription is required for this product.

Ingredients of ZADITEN ophtha 0.25mg/ml (pack size: 1X5 ml): ketotifen fumarate, benzalkonium chloride, glycerol (E 422), sodium hydroxide (E 524), water for injections.The active ingredient is ketotifen fumarate.1 ml eye drops contains 0.345 mg ketotifen fumarate (equivalent to 0.25 mg ketotifen).

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or any of the other ingredients mentioned.Children under 3 years of age should generally not use the medicine.The medicine should be used with caution during pregnancy.According to current knowledge, there are no concerns about its use during breastfeeding.

Dosage

Recommended use of ZADITEN ophtha 0.25mg/ml (pack size: 1X5 ml): Adults, older people and children aged 3 years and over should drip one drop of ZADITEN ophtha eye drops into the conjunctival sac twice daily.The recommended dose for adults, the elderly and children (3 years and older) is one drop in each affected eye (or eyes) twice daily (morning and evening).

Application instructions

Wash your hands.Open the bottle and do not touch the tip of the bottle after opening.Tilt your head back.Pull the lower eyelid down with your finger and take the bottle in your other hand.Squeeze the bottle so that a drop falls into the eye.Close your eyes and press the corner of your eye with your fingertip for 1-2 minutes.This prevents the drop from draining down the tear duct into the throat and keeps most of the drop in the eye.Repeat the steps for the other eye if necessary.After use, close the bottle again.

Side effects

What undesirable effects can occur?Eye irritation, such as eye burning and stinging, eye pain, dry eye, blurred vision, eyelid disorders, increased sensitivity to light in the eye, conjunctival bleeding, corneal inflammation (keratitis punctata), corneal damage, headache, drowsiness, dry mouth, skin rash, eczema, hives.Eye irritation, eye pain and sensitivity to light can often occur.Blurred vision, dry eye, eyelid irritation, conjunctivitis, bleeding under the conjunctiva, headache, drowsiness, eczema, dry mouth and hypersensitivity reactions may occasionally occur.

Storage

Keep this medicine out of the reach and reach of children.Do not store above 25°C.The bottle itself is not sterile.However, the contents are sterile until the bottle is opened.After opening the bottle, the drops can be kept for a maximum of 4 weeks.You may no longer use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the carton and container after “Use by:” (“Used by:”).The medicine must be stored away from heat.The medicine may be used for a maximum of 4 weeks after opening/preparation.The medicine must be stored at room temperature after opening/preparation.

Important notes

If multiple eye drops/eye ointments are used, spacing between applications is necessary.The medicine contains a preservative that can accumulate in soft contact lenses.There may be medicines with which interactions occur.You should therefore generally tell your doctor or pharmacist before starting treatment with a new medicine that you are already using.This also applies to medicines that you buy yourself, only use occasionally or that were used some time ago.
