Instructions for use of Kamillosan ointment

Kamillosan ointment is a herbal medicine for external use for inflammatory skin and mucous membrane changes.It contains a dry extract of chamomile flowers as an active ingredient.This extract has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial effects and promotes wound healing.

The ointment is used for inflammation of the skin and mucous membranes.It is also suitable for use in the anal and genital areas, including for the treatment of hemorrhoids.Kamillosan ointment can be used for small, inflammatory wounds, inflammation in the area of the lips and oral mucosa, soreness and diaper rash in infants (from 4 weeks) and small children, as well as for rough, dry, low-fat skin.

No prescription is required for this product.

Areas of application

Kamillosan ointment is used in the following areas of application:

- Skin inflammation

- Inflammation of the mucous membranes

- Inflammation of the anus

- Inflammation in the area of the genital organs

- Hemorrhoidal disease

Application and dosage

Always use Kamillosan ointment exactly as described in the package leaflet or after consulting your doctor or pharmacist.Unless your doctor tells you otherwise, apply the ointment thinly to the affected skin and mucous membrane areas several times a day.

The duration of use depends on the type, severity and course of the disease.Do not use Kamillosan ointment for longer than 14 days without medical advice.If there is no improvement within 3 days or if there is evidence of a bacterial infection, you should consult a doctor.

Wash your hands thoroughly after use.The medicine should not be used in the eye area.

Composition

1 g of ointment contains as active ingredients:

Dry extract of chamomile flowers (Matricaria recutita L.) (15-25:1) 4.3 mg

Extracting agent: Ethanol 95.4% (V/V) (containing 0.22% sodium acetate trihydrate and 0.12% sodium hydroxide)

The other components are:

Highly disperse silicon dioxide, wool wax (contains butylated hydroxytoluene), yellow petroleum jelly, glycerol, purified water, perfumes, benzyl alcohol, citral, citronellol, D-limonene, geraniol, linalool.

Warnings

Kamillosan ointment contains wool wax and butylhydroxytoluene.Contains benzyl alcohol and fragrances with citral, citronellol, D-limonene, geraniol and linalool.

Be careful if you are allergic to spices such as anise, mugwort, dill, fennel, carrot, coriander, caraway, paprika, parsley, celery and tomatoes.Be careful if you are allergic to daisy family plants such as arnica, marigold, yarrow, echinacea and chamomile.

Storage

Keep Kamillosan ointment out of the reach of children.The medicine must not be used after the expiry date stated on the container and the folding box.Store the medicine away from heat.After opening or preparation, the medicine may be used for a maximum of 12 months and must be stored at room temperature.

Side effects

Possible side effects can include:

- Inflammation of the skin due to chemicals/allergy (contact dermatitis)

- Hypersensitivity to similar medications (cross allergy)

- Hypersensitivity, in case of contact with mucous membranes, especially if liquid medicines are not used properly

- Shortness of breath (dyspnea), when in contact with mucous membranes, especially if liquid medicines are not used properly

- Swelling of the face, when there is contact with mucous membranes, especially if liquid medicines are not used properly

- Circulatory collapse (circulatory collapse), in the event of contact with the mucous membrane, especially if liquid medicines are not used properly

- Allergic shock, in case of contact with mucous membranes, especially if liquid medicines are not used properly

If you notice any discomfort or change during treatment, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Contraindications

Kamillosan ointment should not be used for:

- Hypersensitivity to the ingredients

- Hypersensitivity to similar medications (cross allergy)

- Newborns in the first 4 weeks of life

- Pregnancy and breastfeeding
