Paracetamol Dexcel® 500 mg tablets

Paracetamol Dexcel® contains the active ingredient paracetamol and is a painkiller and fever-reducing medicine.It is used for the symptomatic treatment of mild to moderate pain and/or fever.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients and ingredients

Each tablet contains 500 mg of paracetamol as the active ingredient.The other ingredients include povidone K30, carmellose sodium, magnesium stearate and sodium ions.The tablets have a score line so they can be divided into equal doses if necessary.

Area of application

Paracetamol Dexcel® is used for the symptomatic treatment of mild to moderate pain and/or fever.It is an analgesic and antipyretic.

Dosage

The dosage of Paracetamol Dexcel® depends on the patient's body weight and age.As a rule, the single dose is 10 to 15 mg of paracetamol per kilogram of body weight, with the maximum daily dose not exceeding 60 mg per kilogram of body weight.The dosing interval should be at least 6 hours.

For children between 4 and 8 years old (17 to 25 kg body weight), the single dose is half a tablet (250 mg paracetamol), with a maximum daily dose of 2 tablets (1000 mg paracetamol).

For children between 8 and 11 years of age (26 to 32 kg body weight), the single dose is also half a tablet (250 mg paracetamol), with a maximum daily dose of 2 tablets (1000 mg paracetamol).In exceptional cases, up to 3 tablets (1500 mg paracetamol) can be taken daily.

For children between 11 and 12 years old (33 to 42 kg body weight), the single dose is one whole tablet (500 mg paracetamol), with a maximum daily dose of 4 tablets (2000 mg paracetamol).

For children aged 12 and over and adults (weight 43 kg or more), the single dose is 1 to 2 tablets (500 to 1000 mg paracetamol), with a maximum daily dose of 8 tablets (4000 mg paracetamol).

In cases of liver or kidney dysfunction and in elderly or debilitated patients, the dose should be adjusted or the dosing interval extended.Children under 4 years of age or weighing less than 17 kg should not take the tablets.

Intake

The tablets are swallowed whole with sufficient liquid, such as a glass of water.Paracetamol Dexcel® should not be taken for longer than 3 days without medical or dental advice.

Contraindications

Paracetamol Dexcel® must not be taken if you are allergic to paracetamol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Patient information

To prevent the risk of overdose, it should be ensured that other medicines used at the same time do not contain paracetamol.For prolonged use or higher doses, you should consult your doctor or pharmacist.Exceeding the recommended dose can cause serious liver damage.

Paracetamol has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.However, caution should always be exercised after taking painkillers.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.Paracetamol should only be taken during pregnancy after carefully weighing the benefit-risk ratio.Paracetamol passes into breast milk, but stopping breastfeeding is usually not necessary.
