Acetylsalicylic acid is an active ingredient with a wide range of applications.The exact mechanism of action has been known for around fifty years, which has led to more individual dosages and different dosage forms.A special gastro-resistant coating on tablets ensures that they only dissolve in the digestive tract, which protects the stomach mucosa and makes the active ingredient easier to tolerate. ASS Dexcel® Protect uses this stomach-friendly property to inhibit the sticking and clumping of blood platelets, prevent blood clots and reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes.

Area of application

The medicine inhibits the sticking and clumping of blood platelets and thus prevents the formation of blood clots.It is used for unstable angina pectoris as part of standard therapy, for acute myocardial infarction also as part of standard therapy, to prevent another heart attack after the first heart attack, after operations or other interventions on arterial blood vessels and to prevent temporary insufficient blood flow in the brain and cerebral infarctions after precursor stages have occurred.

The preparation is not suitable for the treatment of pain conditions.If you don't feel better or even feel worse, contact your doctor.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to acetylsalicylic acid, salicylates or any of the other ingredients of this medicine, if you have had an allergic reaction in the past to certain medicines for pain, fever or inflammation with asthma attacks or in any other way, if you have acute stomach and intestinal ulcers, if you have a pathologically increased tendency to bleed, if you have liver and kidney failure, if you have severe heart muscle weakness that has not been controlled by medication, if you are taking 15 mg or more methotrexate at the same timeper week, or in the last 3 months of pregnancy in a dosage of more than 100 mg acetylsalicylic acid per day.

Dosage

Always take this medicine exactly as described or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.The recommended dose for unstable angina pectoris and acute myocardial infarction is one enteric-coated tablet per day, equivalent to 100 mg of acetylsalicylic acid.To prevent another heart attack after the first heart attack, three enteric-coated tablets per day, equivalent to 300 mg of acetylsalicylic acid, are recommended.After surgery or other procedures on arterial blood vessels, one enteric-coated tablet per day is also recommended.To prevent temporary lack of blood flow to the brain and cerebral infarctions, one enteric-coated tablet per day is also recommended.

The medicine is intended for long-term use.The treating doctor decides on the duration of use.If you have the impression that the effect of the preparation is too strong or too weak, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

If you take more than you should, dizziness and ringing in the ears, especially in children and the elderly, may be signs of serious poisoning.If you suspect an overdose, please notify your doctor immediately.

If you forget to take it, do not take double the amount next time, but continue taking it as described in the dosage instructions or as prescribed by your doctor.

Please do not interrupt or stop treatment with the medicine without first discussing this with your doctor.

Intake

Please take the tablets whole, preferably at least 30 minutes before a meal, with plenty of water.To treat an acute heart attack, the first tablet should be bitten or chewed.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the product, if you are hypersensitive to other painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs, if you are taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs at the same time, if you have other allergies, if you have bronchial asthma, hay fever, swollen nasal mucous membranes, chronic respiratory diseases, if you are being treated with anticoagulant drugs at the same time, if you have stomach and intestinal ulcers or gastrointestinal bleedingHistory, with impaired liver function, with impaired kidney function or reduced cardiac and vascular blood flow, before operations, in patients with severe glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency.

In low doses, acetylsalicylic acid reduces uric acid excretion.In patients at risk, this can potentially trigger a gout attack.If you cut or injure yourself, it may take a little longer than usual for any bleeding to stop.Medicines containing acetylsalicylic acid should not be used for a longer period of time or in higher doses without consulting your doctor.

The medicine should only be used in children and adolescents with feverish illnesses on medical advice and only if other measures do not work.No special precautions are required when driving or using machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.If you continue or start treatment with this medicine during pregnancy on the advice of your doctor, then use ASS Dexcel Protect as recommended by your doctor and do not take a higher dose than prescribed.Do not take more than 100 mg of the drug per day if you are in the last 3 months of pregnancy.You should not take this medicine during the first 6 months of pregnancy unless absolutely necessary and recommended by your doctor.

The active ingredient acetylsalicylic acid and its breakdown products pass into breast milk in small quantities.Since adverse consequences for the infant have not yet been reported, interruption of breastfeeding will generally not be necessary when using a daily dose of up to 150 mg.If higher doses are taken (over 150 mg daily dose), breastfeeding should be discontinued.
