Acetylsalicylic acid is an active ingredient with a wide range of applications.The exact mechanism of action has been known for around fifty years, which has led to improvements in dosage and dosage forms.A special gastro-resistant coating on tablets ensures that they only dissolve in the digestive tract, which protects the stomach mucosa and makes the active ingredient easier to tolerate. ASS Dexcel® Protect uses this stomach-friendly property to inhibit the sticking and clumping of blood platelets, prevent blood clots and reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes.

Area of application

The medicine is used to inhibit the sticking and clumping of blood platelets and thus prevent the formation of blood clots.It is used for unstable angina pectoris, acute myocardial infarction, to prevent another heart attack after the first heart attack, after operations or other interventions on arterial blood vessels, and to prevent temporary insufficient blood flow in the brain and cerebral infarctions after precursor stages have occurred.The preparation is not suitable for the treatment of pain conditions.If you don't feel better or even feel worse, contact your doctor.

1 Tablet contains 100 mg acetylsalicylic acid.Other ingredients include microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, corn starch, stearic acid (vegetable), colloidal silicon dioxide, triethyl citrate, talc and methacrylic acid-ethyl acrylate copolymer (1:1) (Ph. Eur.) (MW: approx. 250,000).

Contraindications

This medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to acetylsalicylic acid, salicylates or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.The medicine must also not be used in the case of acute stomach and intestinal ulcers, a pathologically increased tendency to bleeding, liver and kidney failure, severe heart muscle weakness that is not controlled by medication, or if 15 mg or more methotrexate per week is taken at the same time.In the last 3 months of pregnancy, a dosage of more than 100 mg acetylsalicylic acid per day should be avoided.

Dosage

Always take this medicine exactly as described or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.The recommended dose for unstable angina pectoris, acute myocardial infarction, after operations or other interventions on arterial blood vessels and to prevent temporary insufficient blood flow in the brain and cerebral infarctions is 1 enteric-coated tablet (corresponding to 100 mg acetylsalicylic acid per day).To prevent another heart attack after the first heart attack, a daily dose of 3 gastro-resistant tablets (corresponding to 300 mg acetylsalicylic acid per day) is recommended.The medicine is intended for long-term use and the treating doctor decides on the duration of use.If you take more than you should, please contact your doctor immediately.If you forget to take it, do not take a double dose next time, but continue taking it as described.Do not stop taking it without consulting your doctor.

Intake

Please take the tablets whole, preferably at least 30 minutes before a meal, with plenty of water.To treat an acute heart attack, the first tablet should be bitten or chewed.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the product, if you are hypersensitive to other painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs, if you are taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs at the same time, if you have other allergies, if you have bronchial asthma, hay fever, swollen nasal mucous membranes, chronic respiratory diseases, if you are being treated with anticoagulant drugs at the same time, if you have stomach and intestinal ulcers or gastrointestinal bleedingHistory, with impaired liver function, with impaired kidney function or reduced cardiac and vascular blood flow.Acetylsalicylic acid may further increase the risk of kidney dysfunction and acute kidney failure.Before surgery, you should tell your doctor or dentist if you have taken the product.In patients with severe glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, acetylsalicylic acid can cause an accelerated breakdown of red blood cells or a certain form of anemia.If you cut or injure yourself, it may take a little longer for any bleeding to stop. Medicines containing acetylsalicylic acid should not be used for extended periods or in higher doses without consulting a doctor.This medicine should only be used in children and adolescents with feverish illnesses on the advice of a doctor and only if other measures are ineffective.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.If you continue or begin treatment with this medicine during pregnancy on the advice of your doctor, use ASS Dexcel Protect as recommended by your doctor and do not take a higher dose than prescribed.During the last 3 months of pregnancy, you should not take more than 100 mg of the medicine per day, as this could harm your unborn child or cause problems during delivery.During the first 6 months of pregnancy, you should only take the medicine if absolutely necessary and recommended by your doctor.The active ingredient acetylsalicylic acid and its breakdown products pass into breast milk in small amounts.When using a daily dose of up to 150 mg, interrupting breastfeeding is usually not necessary.If higher doses (over 150 mg daily) are taken, breastfeeding should be discontinued.

ASS Dexcel® Protect 100 mg is not suitable for treating pain.If you cut or injure yourself, it may take slightly longer than usual for the bleeding to stop.This is related to the effect of ASS Dexcel® Protect.Minor cuts and injuries (e.g., while shaving) are usually insignificant.If you experience unusual bleeding (in an unusual location or of unusual duration), consult your doctor.Medicines containing acetylsalicylic acid should not be used for extended periods or in higher doses without consulting a doctor.Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date printed on the carton or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the month indicated.
