Acetylsalicylic acid (ASS) acts as a platelet aggregation inhibitor and prevents blood platelets from clumping together.These small cells in the blood are responsible for clotting.Blood clots in arteries can interrupt blood flow and reduce oxygen supply.In the heart this can lead to a heart attack or angina pectoris, and in the brain it can lead to a stroke.

ASS TAD 100 mg protect with the active ingredient acetylsalicylic acid is used to reduce the risk of blood clots and prevent heart attacks, strokes and cardiovascular diseases.The medication can also be used after certain cardiac surgical procedures.However, it is for prevention purposes only and is not suitable for emergency situations.

Areas of application

ASS TAD 100mg protect is used as part of standard therapy to treat an acute heart attack.It also helps prevent another myocardial infarction.It is also used as part of standard therapy for unstable angina.In addition, use is indicated for the prevention of cerebral infarction and after vascular surgery.

Mode of action

Acetylsalicylic acid inhibits cyclooxygenase and irreversibly prevents platelet aggregation.This improves the flow properties of the blood and prevents vascular blockages.The tablets have a special coating that only releases the active ingredient in the small intestine, which significantly improves stomach tolerance.

1 Tablet ASS TAD 100mg protect contains the active ingredient 100 mg acetylsalicylic acid (Ph.Eur.).Other ingredients included: methacrylic acid-ethyl acrylate copolymer (1:1)(Ph.Eur.)[Eudragit L30 D], microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, corn starch, stearic acid (Ph.Eur.), highly dispersed silicon dioxide, film coating: talc, triethyl citrate.

Contraindications

ASS TAD 100mg protect should not be used in cases of known hypersensitivity to salicylates or other non-steroidal analgesics/anti-inflammatory drugs, acute gastric and intestinal ulcers, hemorrhagic diathesis, liver and kidney failure, severe heart failure and concurrent treatment with methotrexate at a dose of 15mg or more per week.People with hereditary galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption should also not take the medication.Caution is advised before operations.

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding as well as in children under 12 years of age and in children and adolescents with feverish symptoms is contraindicated.

Dosage

ASS TAD 100mg protect should be taken exactly as directed by a doctor.For unstable angina pectoris, 1 tablet daily is recommended.In the case of an acute heart attack, 1 tablet daily (biting the first tablet) is also recommended.To prevent another heart attack, 3 tablets daily are recommended.After surgery or other procedures on arterial blood vessels, 1 tablet daily is recommended.To prevent temporary cerebral insufficiency (TIA) and cerebral infarction after precursor stages have occurred, 1 tablet daily is also recommended.

Intake

Please take the tablets whole, preferably before a meal, with plenty of liquid (e.g. a glass of water).To treat an acute heart attack, the first tablet should be bitten or chewed.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.Particular caution is required in the event of hypersensitivity to other painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs, other drugs for rheumatism or other allergy-causing substances.Care should also be taken if you have bronchial asthma, hay fever, swelling of the nasal mucous membranes (nasal polyps) or chronic respiratory diseases.Concomitant treatment with anticoagulant drugs requires special attention.If you have a history of stomach and intestinal ulcers or gastrointestinal bleeding, impaired liver function, impaired kidney function, or reduced cardiac and vascular blood flow, the drug should be taken with caution.There may be increased bleeding before operations.Tell your doctor or dentist if you are taking this product.

In low doses, acetylsalicylic acid reduces uric acid excretion, which can trigger a gout attack in at-risk patients.If there is an injury, it may take a little longer for bleeding to stop. Medicines containing acetylsalicylic acid should not be used for longer or in higher doses without medical advice.

In children and adolescents with feverish illnesses, the medicine should only be used on medical advice and only if other measures do not work.Prolonged vomiting can be a sign of Reye's syndrome, a very rare but life-threatening disease that requires immediate medical attention.

No special precautions are required regarding the ability to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

If you become pregnant while taking this product, please notify your doctor immediately.In the first and second trimesters of pregnancy, you may only take this preparation on the advice of your doctor.In the last three months of pregnancy, you should not take acetylsalicylic acid in a dosage of more than 150 mg per day.You may only take up to 150 mg per day in the last trimester of pregnancy if directed by your doctor.

The active ingredient acetylsalicylic acid and its breakdown products pass into breast milk in small quantities.With a daily dose of up to 150 mg, interruption of breastfeeding is usually not necessary.If higher doses are taken (over 150 mg daily dose), breastfeeding should be discontinued.
