Area of application

Nicorette chewing gum 4 mg freshfruit is a chewing gum containing active ingredients to support smoking cessation.It helps to relieve the urge to smoke and typical withdrawal symptoms such as inner restlessness and increased appetite.This product is suitable for smokers who are heavily addicted to tobacco and have previously smoked more than 20 cigarettes per day.For smokers who consume fewer than 20 cigarettes per day, the lower dose version with 2 mg nicotine is recommended.

One Nicorette 4 mg freshfruit chewing gum contains 4 mg nicotine (as 20 mg nicotine polacrilin (1:4)).The other ingredients are chewing gum base (contains butylated hydroxytoluene (E 321)), acesulfame potassium, arabic gum, carnauba wax, hypromellose, quinoline yellow (E 104), levomenthol, light magnesium oxide, sodium carbonate, peppermint oil, polysorbate 80, sucralose, titanium dioxide, tuttifrutti QL 84441 and xylitol.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be used if you are allergic to nicotine, levomenthol, peppermint oil, butylhydroxytoluene (E 321) or any of the other ingredients.Non-smokers and occasional smokers who smoke one cigarette per day or less should also not use the product.

Dosage

The usual dose for adults is 1 piece of gum per hour, up to a maximum of 16 pieces per day, with 8 to 12 pieces being a guideline.The chewing gum should be chewed for around 30 minutes with breaks in order to optimally release the nicotine.The duration of use should be at least 3 months.As treatment progresses, the number of chewing gums used daily should be gradually reduced.

Intake

A piece of chewing gum is chewed for around 30 minutes with breaks to release the nicotine from the chewing mass.It's important to chew slowly and push the gum into your cheek pocket as the flavor intensifies.When the taste wears off, you can chew again.

Patient information

Particular caution is required when using the drug if you suffer from severe cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, liver damage, kidney failure, stomach ulcers, diabetes mellitus, hyperthyroidism or a tumor of the adrenal medulla.Your doctor will carefully weigh the risks of nicotine replacement therapy against those of continuing to smoke.Nicotine is highly toxic and must be kept out of the reach of children.

Pregnancy

Smoking can cause serious harm to the fetus and should therefore be stopped.Pregnant smokers should quit smoking without the help of nicotine-containing medicines.The use of the drug should only be considered after consulting your doctor if there is a risk of continuing to smoke.Nicotine passes into breast milk and should therefore be avoided during breastfeeding.
