Contraindications

Nicorette chewing gum 4 mg freshmint must not be used if you are allergic to nicotine, levomenthol, peppermint oil, butylhydroxytoluene (E 321) or any of the other ingredients of this medicine mentioned.Non-smokers and occasional smokers who smoke one cigarette per day or less should also not use chewing gum.

Dosage

Dosage recommendation for Nicorette® chewing gum 4 mg freshmint: Nicorette chewing gum 4 mg freshmint should be used for a total of at least 3 months.1 piece of Nicorette chewing gum 4 mg freshmint per hour, a maximum of 16 pieces per day, with 8 to 12 pieces being a guideline.4 to 6 weeks after the start of treatment, the number of chewing gums per day should be gradually reduced by chewing Nicorette chewing gum 4 mg freshmint at intervals greater than 1 hour.The first attempt to discontinue Nicorette chewing gum 4 mg freshmint should be made if the average daily consumption during the last week was 1 - 2 pieces.

Intake

1 Piece of Nicorette chewing gum 4 mg freshmint is chewed for around 30 minutes with breaks to release the nicotine from the chewing mass.The most important thing is to chew Nicorette chewing gum 4 mg freshmint slowly.You should avoid chewing the gum quickly and/or intensively so that the nicotine is not released from the gum too quickly.To do this, the chewing gum should be chewed until the taste noticeably intensifies.Then it is important to push the gum into the cheek pocket until the taste subsides.You can then start chewing again.To increase the chances of success, it is important to avoid underdosing.You should therefore chew a sufficient amount of Nicorette chewing gum every day.
