Product features

Klysma 1 x saline is a ready-to-use, disposable enema for rapid defecation of the rectum.It is available without a prescription.

Composition

100 ml of the product contains the following ingredients: sodium dihydrogen phosphate 2 H2O (16.0 g), disodium hydrogen phosphate 2 H2O (2.98 g), sodium benzoate (0.12 g) and purified water.One bottle contains 135 ml of the solution.

Areas of application

Klysma 1 x saline is used to quickly empty the rectum, for example before operations, X-ray examinations, colonoscopies or births.

Contraindications

This product should not be used in patients with kidney problems, difficult bowel movements due to obstruction or blockage, injuries to the anal region, postoperative inability to move stool through the bowel, and in infants and young children under 6 years of age.It is also not suitable for inflammatory or swollen intestinal diseases that can lead to cramps, pain, constipation or diarrhea, such as Hirschsprung's disease.Likewise, the product should not be used if increased electrolytes are absorbed from the intestine.

Side effects

It can cause irritation of the intestinal mucosa.In rare cases, serious electrolyte imbalances, such as high phosphate and low calcium in the blood, have been reported, which can lead to severe muscle cramps.

Interactions

High levels of phosphate and sodium and low levels of calcium in the blood may occur when enemas or oral laxatives containing phosphates are used in combination with diuretics or other medications that may affect the level of electrolytes in the blood.

Instructions for use

Dosage: Generally the contents of one adult bottle.It is used as an enema into the intestines.The patient should not give in to his urge to empty for at least 15-20 minutes to ensure sustained emptying of the rectum.In the event of premature emptying, repeated use can be carried out safely.The product is not intended for continuous use, but can be repeated at irregular intervals as needed.

Application instructions

To use the bottle, unscrew the cap and lightly grease the nozzle.When inserting the attachment tube into the anus, the patient should lie on the left side if possible.By applying gentle pressure to the plastic container, the contents are slowly injected into the rectum.The plastic container must remain compressed even during removal.

Patient information

Use with caution in elderly and debilitated patients and in patients with pre-existing electrolyte disorders.For single use only.Reusing or reprocessing single-use medical devices can lead to contamination.Discard plastic containers after use, even if not all of the contents have been used.Use only clear solutions in intact containers.The product must no longer be used after the expiry date has expired.Keep out of the reach of children.

Notes

Klysma 1 x saline can be slightly yellow in color.This discoloration does not affect the effectiveness of the product.
