Acyclovir acute cream - 1 A-Pharma is an over-the-counter medicine for the treatment of viral infections, more precisely an antiviral.It is used to relieve pain and itching in frequently recurring herpes infections with blisters in the lip area, also known as recurrent herpes labialis.
No prescription is required for this product.
Areas of application
The active ingredient acyclovir inhibits the multiplication of herpes viruses.The cream is used to relieve pain and itching in frequently recurring herpes infections with blisters in the lip area.
Application and dosage
Always use the cream exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.Apply the cream thinly to the infected skin areas 5 times a day every 4 hours.It is best to use a cotton swab for this to avoid additional infection.Be sure to not only treat the visible signs of herpes, but also address adjacent areas.
The duration of treatment is generally 5 days.In individual cases, you can continue treatment until the blisters have crusted over or healed.However, do not exceed 10 days of treatment.In order to achieve the greatest possible treatment success, you should use the cream at the first signs of herpes disease.
Composition
The active ingredient is acyclovir.1 g of cream contains 50 mg of acyclovir.The other ingredients are cetyl alcohol, Dimeticon 350, glycerol monostearate, thick paraffin, macrogol stearate 1500, propylene glycol, white petroleum jelly and purified water.
Contraindications
This medicine must not be used if you are allergic to acyclovir, valacyclovir or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.If you have a weakened immune system, such as HIV-infections, organ transplants or long-term high-dose cortisone treatment, you should speak to your doctor before use.
Side effects
Possible side effects include hypersensitivity reactions of the skin, such as burning or stinging, itching, redness of the skin, drying of the skin and flaking.If you notice any discomfort or change during treatment, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Storage
Keep the medicine out of the reach and reach of children and do not store it below 8°C.Once opened, the cream has a shelf life of 36 months.Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the tube and carton.

Important notes
Emulsifiers such as cetyl alcohol and solvents such as propylene glycol can cause skin irritation.The cream must not be applied to mucous membranes, otherwise local irritation may occur.In particular, accidental contact of the cream with the eyes should be avoided.
