Iron sulfate Lomapharm 100 mg film-coated tablets contain the active ingredient iron (II) sulfate.This medicine is used to treat iron deficiency.No prescription is required for this product.

Dosage and instructions for use

Adults usually take one tablet twice a day, in the morning and in the evening, about an hour before a meal.The tablets should be swallowed whole with sufficient liquid, such as a glass of water.The total dose should not be exceeded without consulting a doctor or pharmacist.

The duration of use depends on the type of symptoms and/or the course of the disease.It should therefore be determined in consultation with your doctor.

Various symptoms may occur in the event of an overdose, including nausea, bloody vomiting, stomach upset, diarrhea, drowsiness and circulatory collapse.Small children are particularly at risk.If you suspect an overdose, you should contact a doctor immediately.

If you forget to take it, continue taking it as normal at the next prescribed time, i.e. not with a double dose.Pay attention to careful dosage, especially for infants, small children and the elderly.If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist about any effects or precautions.

Contraindications

As a rule, the medicine should not be used in children and adolescents under the age of 18.

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the medicine should only be taken after carefully weighing the benefits and risks and consulting a doctor.

Side effects

Possible side effects include gastrointestinal symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, diarrhea and constipation.In addition, the stool may turn harmless black.

Composition

Each film-coated tablet contains 302.237-309.106 mg iron(II) sulfate, dried, corresponding to 100 mg iron(II) ion.As excipients, the medicine contains maltodextrin, calcium (palmitate, stearate), lactose-1-water, copovidone, macrogol 4000, talc, calcium carbonate, cocoa butter, magnesium stearate (vegetable), shellac, titanium dioxide, cellulose powder, corn starch, carboxymethyl starch, sodium type A, sodium dodecyl sulfate, sucrose, povidone K25 and iron oxides and hydroxides.

Important notes

Caution is advised if you are allergic to certain ingredients such as polyethylene glycol, talc, cocoa or certain spices and essential oils.There may be medicines with which interactions occur.You should therefore generally tell your doctor or pharmacist before starting treatment with a new medicine that you are already using.

Coffee, cola drinks, mate tea, green and black tea should be avoided during treatment with the drug.Milk and dairy products, as well as mineral water, calcium-fortified drinks and mineral supplements, should be avoided within 2 hours before and 4 hours after intake.

The medicine must be stored away from heat.
