Instructions for use for NORTASE Capsules, 50 pcs
Area of application
Bloating, flatulence, diarrhea and stomach pain after eating are symptoms that many people are familiar with. However, one in ten people with these problems suffers from a dysfunction of the pancreas, which does not produce enough digestive enzymes. This disorder is called exocrine pancreatic insufficiency or EPI and can lead to significant limitations in everyday life.If EPI is present or the pancreas has been partially removed, missing digestive enzymes can be replaced with enzyme replacement preparations such as Nortase.
Risk groups and accompanying symptoms
An increased risk of EPI exists in people with diabetes mellitus, chronic pancreatitis, excessive alcohol consumption, smokers, cystic fibrosis, gallstones, obesity and people over 50 years of age. With EPI , the breakdown of carbohydrates, proteins and fats is disturbed, which can lead to deficiency symptoms, weight loss and increased fat excretion.Studies show that 6% of diagnosed irritable bowel syndrome patients actually suffer from EPI .An indicator of this can be greasy, shiny stools.
Self-treatment and nutrition
Pancreatic weakness should be diagnosed and monitored by a doctor.Nortase should be taken according to the instructions for use.A change in diet is not absolutely necessary as Nortase replaces the missing enzymes. The capsules can be easily dosed and taken with meals.Nortase is suitable for vegetarians, but contains a small amount of lactose.
Mode of action
The pancreas releases enzymes such as lipase, amylase and protease that break down sugars, proteins and fats. With EPI , these enzymes are not produced sufficiently, which is why they have to be supplied from outside. The rhizoenzymes contained in Nortase take over this function and begin digestion in the stomach. This enables efficient breakdown and utilization of nutrients.
Active ingredients and ingredients
Nortase contains the following active ingredients: Aspergillus oryzae amylase, Aspergillus oryzae protease and Rhizopus oryzae rizolipase. The excipients include iron (III) oxide, gelatin, lactose-1-water, magnesium stearate and titanium dioxide.
Contraindications
Nortase must not be taken if you have acute pancreatitis, an acute attack of chronic pancreatitis or if you are hypersensitive to mold or other components of the preparation.
Dosage
The dosage depends on the severity of the symptoms. For mild to moderate symptoms, 2 to 3 capsules are taken with the main meal.If symptoms are severe, 3 capsules can initially be taken with the main meal. One capsule is enough for low-fat snacks and drinks containing milk. The dosage should be agreed with the treating doctor.
Intake
The capsules should be taken whole with sufficient liquid such as water, juice or lukewarm tea during meals. If chewed, the active enzymes can damage the mucous membrane.
Patient information
Particular caution is required in patients with cystic fibrosis.Nortase contains active enzymes that, when released into the oral cavity, can cause damage to the mucous membrane. The preparation contains lactose, which is why a doctor should be consulted in case of intolerance. If you experience side effects or persistent symptoms, you should consult a doctor.
Pregnancy
There are no concerns about taking Nortase while pregnant or breastfeeding.
Notes
No prescription is required for this product. For information about risks and side effects, read the package leaflet and ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Other
Treatment with Nortase is aimed at achieving normal body weight and normalizing the frequency and consistency of bowel movements. In the case of cystic fibrosis, the amount of enzyme should not be exceeded to ensure sufficient fat absorption.
