Instructions for use of Braunovidone ointment
Braunovidone ointment is a germicidal agent (antiseptic) containing povidone-iodine for antimicrobial skin and wound treatment. It is used for repeated, time-limited use as an antiseptic for damaged skin, such as:B. Decubitus (pressure ulcer), leg ulcer (leg ulcer), superficial wounds and burns, infected and superinfected skin diseases.
No prescription is required for this product.
Active ingredients and ingredients
The active ingredient is povidone-iodine.100 g ointment contains 10 g povidone-iodine with 10% available iodine (PVP average Mw 40,000).The other ingredients are Macrogol 400, Macrogol 4000, purified water and sodium bicarbonate.
Areas of application
Braunovidon ointment is used to treat damaged skin, such as:B. in decubitus (pressure ulcer), leg ulcer (leg ulcer), superficial wounds and burns, as well as in infected and superinfected skin diseases.
Application and dosage
The ointment is applied several times a day if necessary, depending on the size of the area to be treated. When starting treatment for severely inflamed or weeping wounds, the ointment should be reapplied every 4 - 6 hours to maintain optimal microbicidal effect. The ointment can remain on the wound for a long time and should be reapplied at the latest after it has been discolored.
The brown color of the ointment is a property of the preparation and indicates the presence of available iodine and thus its effectiveness. If the brown color decreases, the dosage should be reapplied, although the affected areas must be completely covered, as Braunovidon ointment only has a local antiseptic effect.
