Calcium-Sandoz D Osteo effervescent tablets are a preparation that contains calcium and vitamin D3.It is used to prevent and treat calcium and vitamin D deficiency.It also supports the treatment of osteoporosis and serves to prevent this disease.Calcium is an important building block for bones and teeth.From the age of 35, a natural bone loss process begins, which can be intensified by hormonal changes.Taking Calcium-Sandoz D Osteo can counteract this process.If osteoporosis has already manifested itself, the preparation can be used as part of a specific therapy.

Mode of action

Calcium is a bulk element that is mainly bound in bone and teeth.It is subject to a constant build-up and breakdown process and is involved in many physiological processes.A regular intake of calcium is therefore essential.Vitamin D plays an important role in the absorption of calcium and in calcium metabolism.It complements the preparation usefully.

Active ingredients / ingredients / ingredients

An effervescent tablet of Calcium-Sandoz D Osteo contains the following active ingredients:

1500 mg calcium carbonate (equivalent to 600.65 mg calcium)

0.01 mg colecalciferol/vitamin D3 (equivalent to 400 IU)

Other components are:

Sodium cyclamate, citric acid, anhydrous, D,L-[alpha]-tocopherol, gelatin, sodium bicarbonate, D,L-malic acid, maltodextrin, sodium saccharin, lemon flavor, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, corn starch, sucrose, sodium carbonate.

The preparation contains a total of 52 mg sodium ions and 0.003 BE carbohydrates per tablet.

Contraindications

Calcium-Sandoz D Osteo must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to any of the ingredients or soy and peanut products.It is also not suitable for use in disease states that lead to hypercalcemia and/or hypercalciuria, kidney stones, calcium salt deposits in the kidneys, primary hyperparathyroidism, vitamin D overdoses, myeloma and bone metastases.The product is not intended for children.Pregnant women should only take the preparation after consulting a doctor, although a daily dose of 1500 mg calcium and 600 IU vitamin D must not be exceeded.Calcium and vitamin D3 pass into breast milk.

Dosage

Adults take 1-2 effervescent tablets daily, dissolved in a glass of water (200 ml).This corresponds to 600-1200 mg calcium and 400-800 IU vitamin D3.The preparation is not intended for use in children.During long-term use, serum calcium levels and renal function should be monitored.

Intake

The effervescent tablet is dissolved in a glass of water and drunk immediately.You should take the medicine in the morning and evening.

Patient information

During long-term treatment, serum calcium levels and renal function should be checked regularly.This is particularly important in elderly patients and during simultaneous treatment with cardiac glycosides and diuretics.The dose should be reduced or therapy temporarily interrupted if urinary calcium excretion exceeds 7.5 mmol/24 hours (300 mg/24 hours).Before taking it, you should consult your doctor or pharmacist if you suffer from kidney stones, an immune system disorder (sarcoidosis), have limited mobility, are taking other vitamin D3 or calcium-containing preparations at the same time or suffer from kidney dysfunction.

Pregnancy

Ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking/using any medicines.The medicine can be used during pregnancy, but the daily intake should not exceed 1,500 mg calcium and 600 IU vitamin D.If you are pregnant, you should therefore not take more than one effervescent tablet per day.Higher doses may be harmful to the unborn child.The medicine can be used during breastfeeding.Since calcium and vitamin D3 are excreted in breast milk, you must first consult your doctor whether your child is already receiving products that contain vitamin D3.Pregnant and breastfeeding women should take the medicine two hours before or after meals to avoid possible interference with iron absorption.
