Description

The medicine is an antianemic used to treat iron deficiency in adults and children aged 12 and over.It helps compensate for iron deficiency in the body and promotes blood formation.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The medicine contains 304 mg iron (II) fumarate, 100 mg iron (II) ion and 207.68 mg fumaric acid as active ingredients.The following excipients are also included: quinoline yellow, dibutyl phthalate, erythrosine, gelatin, indigo carmine, corn starch, sodium dodecyl sulfate, povidone K30, sucrose, shellac, stearic acid and talc.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to iron (II) fumarate or any of the other ingredients of the medicine.The medicine should also not be used if you have an iron storage disease (hemochromatosis), an iron utilization disorder (sideroachrestic anemia, lead anemia, thalassemia), anemia that was not caused by iron deficiency, hemolytic anemia, iron overload or severe liver and kidney diseases.

Dosage

Always take the medicine exactly as directed.The recommended dose for children aged 12 and over and adults is 1 prolonged-release capsule (100 mg iron) per day.In severe iron deficiency conditions, the dose can be increased to 1 prolonged-release capsule 2-3 times daily.The medicine is not intended for the treatment of children under 12 years of age, as the individual dosage should be adjusted to body weight.

The duration of treatment depends on the iron metabolism and the normalization of the red blood count.After normalization of the red blood count, therapy should be continued for another 1-2 months to replenish the body's iron reserves.Do not take the medicine for longer than 4 weeks without medical advice.

If you take more than you should, contact a doctor immediately.The first signs of iron poisoning are restlessness, severe abdominal pain, violent vomiting, blackish diarrhea and shock.If you forget to take a dose, do not take a double dose.Take the preparation at the next time you take it in the prescribed dosage.If you stop taking it, the completion of the treatment will be delayed or it will not be successful.

Intake

The extended-release capsules are intended for oral consumption.Swallow the capsules whole with sufficient liquid, preferably a glass of drinking water.Take the medicine between meals as food components can reduce the effect.

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if you have stomach and intestinal ulcers, inflammatory bowel disease, or are taking dietary or other iron salt supplements.Iron poisoning can be dangerous for infants and children under 12 years of age.Make sure that this product is kept out of the reach of children.No special precautions are required regarding the ability to drive or use machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, you should only take this medicine as directed by your doctor.Treatment with the higher dosage of 2 capsules per day should not be carried out over a longer period of time.Before taking any medication, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

Other

The sustained-release capsules do not discolor the teeth and do not have an annoying metallic taste.Not all forms of anemia require iron intake.In certain forms, taking additional iron medication can even be detrimental.When taking iron, the stool usually turns black and is harmless.Iron can cause constipation.The doctor should check your blood values approximately every 4 weeks.
