Information for use of the article FERRUM HAUSMANN Product characteristics: - Ferrum-Hausmann Retard Capsules are an antianemic for the treatment of iron deficiency conditions in adults and children aged 12 years and over. - The usual dose is 1 sustained-release capsule (100 mg iron) per day, but may be increased to 2-3 times daily in severe iron deficiency states. - The sustained-release capsules should be taken unchewed with sufficient liquid. - The duration of treatment depends on the iron metabolism and the normalisation of the red blood count. - The medicinal product must not be used in children under 12 years of age. Indications and contraindications: - Caution in case of allergy to iron hydroxide sucrose and intolerance to sucrose. - Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to ferrous fumarate or other components of the medicinal product. - Do not use in iron metabolism disorders, haemochromatosis, haemolytic anaemia and severe liver and kidney diseases. Side effects: - Possible side effects include gastrointestinal complaints such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, diarrhoea, constipation and blackening of the stools. Composition: - Active substance: ferrous fumarate (304.2 mg), equivalent to ferrous ions (100 mg). - Other ingredients are sucrose, maize starch, povidone, shellac, talc, stearic acid, gelatine, sodium dodecyl sulphate, brilliant blue FCF and titanium dioxide.
