Description

Pangrol 40000 is a medicine used to treat digestive disorders caused by reduced or absent pancreatic function.It contains digestive enzymes obtained from the pancreas of pigs.These enzymes are very similar to the human digestive system and, once ingested, help digest food by mixing with the chyme in the stomach and intestines.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The active ingredient in Pangrol 40000 is porcine pancreas powder.One enteric-coated hard capsule contains 319.05 - 414.35 mg of this pancreas powder.The enzyme activities per capsule are as follows:

Lipase activity: 40,000 Ph.-Eur. units

Protease activity: at least 1,500 Ph.-Eur. units

The other ingredients include methacrylic acid-ethyl acrylate copolymer (1:1) dispersion 30% (Ph. Eur.), Simeticon emulsion 20%, talc, triethyl citrate, gelatin, titanium dioxide, iron (III) oxide (E 172), iron (III) hydroxide oxide x H2O (E 172), indigo carmine (E 132) andSodium dodecyl sulfate.

Dosage and intake

The recommended dosage is one capsule per meal, which corresponds to 40,000 Ph. Eur. units of lipase per meal.The capsule should be swallowed whole with plenty of liquid, preferably in the middle of the meal.Patients who do not want to swallow the entire capsule can open it over a suitable container and only swallow the contents with a little liquid without chewing.It is important not to chew the capsules or the pellets they contain, as the preparation loses its effectiveness and the enzymes can damage the mucous membrane.After taking it, you should drink plenty of fluids.

The dosage depends on the severity of the indigestion and may be higher.The dose should only be increased under medical supervision.A daily enzyme dose of 15,000 to 20,000 units of lipase per kilogram of body weight should not be exceeded, especially in patients with cystic fibrosis.

Contraindications

Pangrol 40000 should not be used if you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients.It must not be taken in cases of acute inflammation of the pancreas or an acute attack of chronic inflammation of the pancreas during the fully developed phase of the disease.However, in the decline phase during the dietary build-up, it may occasionally make sense to take it.

Patient information

Notes

The absorption of folic acid can be reduced by taking finished medicines containing pancreas powder, so additional folic acid intake may be necessary.The effect of the blood sugar-lowering active ingredients acarbose and miglitol can be reduced by taking Pangrol 40000 at the same time.Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.
