Description

This medicine is a sleeping pill that belongs to the group of antihistamines.It is used for the short-term treatment of sleep disorders.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The active ingredient in this medicine is diphenhydramine hydrochloride at a dosage of 25 mg per tablet, which is equivalent to 21.88 mg of diphenhydramine.In addition, the preparation contains the following excipients: microcrystalline cellulose, lactose 1-water, magnesium stearate, povidone K25 and highly disperse silicon dioxide.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to diphenhydramine hydrochloride, other antihistamines or any of the other ingredients.The product should also not be used in cases of acute asthma, glaucoma, certain tumors of the adrenal medulla, enlargement of the prostate gland with residual urine formation, epilepsy, potassium or magnesium deficiency, slow heartbeat or certain heart diseases.The same applies to the simultaneous use of drugs that prolong the QT-interval in the EKG or lead to hypokalemia, as well as to the simultaneous use of alcohol or MAO-inhibitors.The medicine must also not be taken during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Dosage

Always take the medicine exactly as directed.The usual dose for adults is 2 tablets (equivalent to 50 mg diphenhydramine hydrochloride) in the evening before going to bed.This dose should not be exceeded.Patients with impaired liver or kidney function, elderly or debilitated patients, and children and adolescents under 18 years of age should adjust the dose if necessary.The duration of treatment should be as short as possible and generally only a few days without exceeding 2 weeks.

Intake

The tablets are taken whole with a little liquid in the evening 30 minutes before going to bed.Adequate sleep duration of 7 to 8 hours should then be ensured.

Patient information

Particular caution is required when taking the drug if you suffer from impaired liver function, chronic lung disease or certain stomach dysfunction.After repeated use over a long period of time, a loss of effectiveness may occur.Taking it can lead to the development of physical and psychological dependence, especially at higher doses and longer durations of treatment.When stopping treatment, it is recommended to reduce the dose gradually to avoid recurrence of sleep disorders.

Ability to drive and use machines

Do not drive vehicles or operate dangerous machines after taking the medicine.Even the following day, residual tiredness and impaired reactions can affect the ability to drive or work with machines, especially after insufficient sleep.
