Information for use with the article Bloodroot Tea: - Indications: Acute diarrhoea; mild inflammation of the mucous membranes in the mouth and throat. - Contraindications: None known. Diarrhoea in infants and small children should be excluded from self-treatment. - Interactions with other medicines: None known. - Dosage instructions and method of use: In case of diarrhoea, drink a cup of tea infusion 2 to 3 times a day. Bloodroot tea consists of the dark reddish-brown root pieces of the bloodroot "Potentilla erecta". It contains natural tannins and is used to treat diarrhoea and inflammation of the mucous membranes in the mouth and throat. Applied externally, it can be used against skin rashes, minor burns and poorly healing injuries. As a gargle, it soothes inflammation of the mucous membranes in the mouth and throat. The tea infusion is prepared by pouring boiling water over about 2 g of bloodroot tea and infusing for about 10 to 15 minutes.
