Composition
The medicinally active component of Agrimony herb tea is the Agrimony herb itself. The Agrimony herb (Agrimonia eupatoria) is a perennial, waist-high plant with narrow, hairy pinnate leaves and small yellow flowers that form slender spikes. It occurs in Europe, northern Asia and North America. The main ingredients of Agrimony are catechins such as agrimonin and flavonoids such as luteolin. The plant parts used are mainly extracts of the dried herb.
Mode of action
The ingredients of the Agrimony herb act as a natural mixture.Tannins such as agrimoniin can inhibit the growth of bacteria and viruses by precipitating microbial protein. They also interact with the body's own proteins, which form a protective layer over the (mucous) skin. This layer protects the body from excessive water loss and prevents bacteria and other germs from entering small injuries to the skin.
Important notes
Caution is advised if you are allergic to phenol, cinnamon, birch, poplar buds, propolis, valerian, turmeric, rosin or salicylic acid.
