Epi-Pevaryl P.v. 1% solution is an antimycotic for the external treatment of fungal diseases of the skin and scalp. It is used to treat pityriasis versicolor, which is caused by the yeast Pityrosporum orbiculare or ovale. The solution is first applied to the damp scalp, the affected areas of the body and the rest of the body. The recommended dose is one third of the contents of the sachet for each of the scalp, the affected parts of the body and the rest of the body. The solution should be rubbed in for at least 3-5 minutes and left overnight. It can be rinsed off the next morning. The treatment is done for three consecutive evenings before going to bed. In stubborn cases, the treatment can last up to 6 days. In case of re-infection or increased risk of re-infection, a follow-up treatment after 1 and 3 months is recommended. The solution should not be ingested and contact with the eyes should be avoided. Accidental ingestion may cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. The solution should be kept out of reach of children. The exact dosage and use should always be discussed with a doctor or pharmacist. Overdose is not known to occur when used correctly. In case of adverse effects or incompatibilities, a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted. The medicinal product should not be used if there is an allergy to econazole nitrate or any of the other ingredients. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before use. Interactions with other medicinal products may occur and should be discussed with a doctor or pharmacist. Possible side effects should also be considered, such as hypersensitivity reactions of the skin, pain or discomfort at the site of application.
