Zink Verla® OTC 20 mg film-coated tablets are a mineral preparation that is used to treat proven zinc deficiency and as part of treatment with penicillamine and other complexing agents.No prescription is required for this product.

Area of application

The medicine is used in cases of proven zinc deficiency and in treatment with penicillamine and other complexing agents.Zinc is a vital trace element that is needed in the body for a variety of functions.A deficiency can manifest itself in changes to the skin, hair, nails and sensory organs, poor wound healing or increased susceptibility to illness.

Active ingredients and ingredients

Each film-coated tablet contains 140 mg D-gluconic acid, zinc salt (2:1), which corresponds to 20 mg zinc ion.In addition, the preparation contains the following excipients: microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, ethyl cellulose, triethyl citrate and 1 mmol total sodium ion.

Contraindications

This medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to zinc D-gluconate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Dosage

Always take this medicine exactly as described or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.The recommended dose is 1 film-coated tablet daily.The duration of intake depends on needs and the success of the treatment.

Intake

Take the film-coated tablets whole with sufficient liquid and well before meals (approx. 1 hour), as the absorption of zinc into the bloodstream can be disrupted by food.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine.Particular caution is required when taking the preparation for a long period of time (several months);then zinc and copper should be monitored through laboratory diagnostics.There are no data on use in children and adolescents.No special precautions are required regarding the ability to drive or use machines.
