Summary: Vidisic eye gel is a tear substitute for the treatment of dry eyes. It is used to replace tears when production is disturbed and to provide symptomatic relief from dry eyes. The dosage should be adjusted individually, depending on the severity of the symptoms. The gel is used 3 to 5 times daily or more frequently and one drop is dropped into the conjunctival sac 30 minutes before bedtime. Use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age is based on clinical experience, but no data from clinical trials are available. The eye gel should not be used for longer than 6 weeks after opening. The medicinal product contains the active substance carbomer and has a gel-like consistency to provide long-lasting moisturisation of the cornea and conjunctiva. There are no known overdose reactions and possible side effects are rare. People with an allergy to carbomer or other ingredients should not use the product. A time interval should be observed before using other eye drops or eye ointments. There is insufficient evidence for pregnant women and nursing mothers, so a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted before use. The medicinal product should be kept out of the reach of children and should not be used after the expiry date.
