Stannum metallicum 0.4% is an anthroposophic medicine that is used for inflammatory and degenerative diseases.It serves to stimulate rhythmic balancing processes, especially to avoid chronic secretions.Areas of application include, among other things, effusions in body cavities and joints, liver diseases with a hardening tendency and as an additional treatment for depressive moods, especially with mental rigidity.

Active ingredient and composition

The active ingredient in Stannum metallicum 0.4% is Stannum metallicum Trit.D1 at a concentration of 0.4 g per 10 g of ointment.The ointment base consists of thick paraffin, Protegin WX (which contains yellow petrolatum, ceresin, hydrogenated castor oil, glycerol monoisostearate and polyglycerol-3-oleate), yellow petrolatum and purified water.

Application and dosage

Stannum metallicum 0.4% should always be used exactly as directed by your doctor.The usual adult dose is:

For joint effusion: Apply a 2-3 cm long strand of ointment to the affected joint 1-2 times a day and place a cloth of ointment overnight.

For pleural effusion: place a cloth of ointment over the affected area 1-2 times a day.

For liver treatment and as an additional treatment for depressive moods: Apply at night as an ointment cloth over the liver area.

To use as an ointment cloth, a piece of linen or cotton fabric is thinly coated with the ointment, placed on the corresponding part of the body with the ointment side and attached.The ointment cloth can be used several times.After 3-4 uses, some ointment should be applied again.The dosage for children aged 4 and over is determined by the attending physician.

The duration of use depends on the course of the disease.If you have known chronic illnesses, you should take a break after 4-6 weeks of use.

Stannum metallicum 0.4% should not be used in children under 4 years of age.It should also not be used in children aged 4 and over and adolescents without medical advice.
