Information for use of the article HEWENEURAL 1% ampoules: HEWENEURAL 1% is an injection solution containing the active substance lidocaine hydrochloride 1 H2O. It is used within the framework of neural therapeutic principles of application. It is a local anaesthetic of the acid amide type for local anaesthesia. There are some contraindications to the use of HEWENEURAL 1%. It should not be used in cases of known hypersensitivity to local anaesthetics of the acid amide type, severe disturbances of the cardiac conduction system, acute failure of cardiac output or shock. Special caution should be exercised in patients with renal or hepatic disease, myasthenia gravis or injection into an inflamed area. The physician using the drug should ensure that the circulation is well replenished and that all measures for ventilation, therapy of seizures and resuscitation are available. In case of allergy to lidocaine hydrochloride 1 H2O, cross-allergy to other acid amide local anaesthetics is possible. Certain points should be observed to avoid side effects. For high-risk patients and higher dosages, intravenous access for infusion should be established. The dosage should be as low as possible and usually no vasoconstrictor additive should be used. Other measures to avoid side effects include correct positioning of the patient, careful aspiration before injection, caution when injecting into infected areas and slow injection. Blood pressure, pulse and pupil width should be checked and attention should be paid to possible interactions with other medicines. Special care should be taken in patients taking anticoagulants as serious bleeding may occur. Even in the case of simultaneous preventive therapy to avoid thrombosis with low-molecular-weight heparin, HEWENEURAL 1% should only be used with particular caution. The dosage of HEWENEURAL 1% should be individualised, taking into account age and weight. In pregnancy and lactation, use should only be made when strictly indicated. It seems unlikely that use during lactation will endanger the infant. The ability to drive and operate machinery should be decided individually by the doctor. Possible interactions with other medicinal products should be discussed with the doctor or pharmacist. HEWENEURAL 1% may have side effects similar to those of other local anaesthetics. Adverse effects to the whole body may occur but usually affect the central nervous and cardiovascular systems. Allergic reactions in the form of itching, swelling or circulatory reactions may occasionally occur. The doctor should be consulted for the exact dosage, type and duration of use. It is recommended to administer only the smallest dose that achieves the desired effect. The solution for injection is intended for single use only and unused residues should be discarded. Note: HEWENEURAL 1% should not be used after the expiry date. It should be stored at room temperature and protected from light. Children should not have access to the medicinal product.
