Cuticerin is an ointment dressing used as a primary dressing between the wound and the secondary dressing. It is made of water-repellent acetate fabric with a small mesh size of 1 x 1 mm. The ointment coating protects the wound surface and ensures a painless dressing change. Cuticerin is permeable to air and exudate to prevent skin maceration. It allows excess exudate to drain into an absorbent secondary dressing and minimises the risk of granulation tissue ingrowth. The ointment dressing can be used to treat superficial exuding wounds such as burns and abrasions. Cuticerin is available in packs of 50 and can be purchased from mainphar.com.
